Jessica Phillips has been taking care of her boyfriend since he had a stroke
The American Idol auditions in Portland, Oregon Feb. 1 didn’t blow us away, but we were deeply touched by the lovely, Jessica Phillips, and her heart-wrenching story.
Jessica’s boyfriend had a stroke nearly one year ago that landed him in the hospital for more than a month. When he came to, not only did he not recognize Jessica, but he couldn’t speak either. Since then, Jessica, 25, has acted as his caretaker, which she calls a “different kind of love.”
The upbeat and charismatic singer sang “Again” by Faith Evans and impressed the judges. We enjoyed the performance, but aren’t 100% sure she’ll get past Hollywood week.

Jessica Phillips is not from Brooklyn, NY. She was born in Houston, TX at Jefferson Davis Hospital ….way to hold on to your roots Jessica. I’ve known you since elementary school….at Longfellow. Lmao. Its all good tho…I hope you make it all the way. Just come home some time and rep the people who were your friends for years. Much love and peace.
