The 75-year-old star reportedly shot himself in the head.

Don Cornelius committed suicide, law enforcement officials tell TMZ.  The Soul Train creator was found dead by cops at his Los Angeles home early in the morning on Feb. 1.

Sadly, the last years of his life were not the happiest. In 2008, Don was arrested for beating up his wife.  He pled no contest to misdemeanor domestic violence – which landed him on three-years probation!

Then in 2009, he went through a divorce. He told an L.A. judge he was suffering from “significant health issues” and wanted to “finalize this divorce before I die.” In 2010, the divorce was granted.

Rest in Peace, Don Cornelius.
