Selena Gomez’s ‘Spring Breakers’ Update: Ashley Benson Cast

After Emma Roberts backed out of ‘Spring Breakers,’ Selena Gomez’s good friend and ‘Pretty Little Liars’ star, Ashley Benson, was cast. How fun for them!

Selena Gomez‘s upcoming indie film with James Franco and Vanessa Hudgens is also going to star her friend, Ashley Benson, reports our sister site, Deadline Hollywood.

“Deadline has learned Pretty Little Liars co-star Ashley Benson just booked a role,” Nikki Finke says. “But two weeks ago Emma Roberts fell out of the movie. So with a February 12 starting date in Florida, Spring Breakers is still looking for its fourth girl.”

Written by Harmony Korine, Spring Breakers is about four college girls who rob a restaurant in order to get money for their trip to the beach with “a rapping drug and arms dealer who bails them out of jail and entices them to kill his arch-rival,” who would be played by James.

Interestingly enough, Ashley is currently dating Ryan Good, who used to be Selena’s boyfriend Justin Bieber‘s swag coach. The four of them have hung out a bunch recently, so we wonder if Selena, 19, played a role in helping Ashley get cast in the film.

Regardless, we bet Justin and Ryan will be down in Florida a bunch together when their girls are shooting the movie! Double date photos — we can’t wait!

Not to hurt anyone’s feelings, I don’t think demi lovato is. Great choice I mean she’s kinda fat and it wouldn’t b appropriate besides I like her music better. Just my opinion no hate

I’m glad Selena is playing a more adult role and leaving disney behind.i didn’t think it was possible but i lover her more and i cant wait to see the movie.

Kristen stewrt should most def be ib it. I saw a movie caled welcome to the rileys where she played a stripper and was uterly cobvincing. So this role hands down is perfect.

Vanessa Hudgens is the best :)

Ughh i wish Vanessa Hudgens had dropped out instead of Emma Roberts.. i would have loved to see Emma, Selena and Ashley in a movie together. They are legit my three favorite young actresses. Vanessa isn’t bad but… Emma is better IMO, especially after seeing her act in Scream 4

They dont seem to make a good convo. They all seem so different, it makes me wonder how this movies going to turn out – im not hating, i love all three, especially Selena but this group is weird. They all do so many different types of acting. .
