Mohammad Shafia, his wife Tooba Yahya and their son Hamed drove the three girls and Mohammad’s first wife into a canal, leaving them to drown in the car.

In 2009, a car was found underwater in Kingston, Ontario with three teenagers and an adult woman inside. Zainab, 19, Sahar 17, and Geeti, 13, and 52-year-old Rona Amir Mohammad were all dead in what prosecutors called an “honor killing” because the three girls dated and used the Internet, according to The Daily Mail.

Mohammad Shafia, Tooba Yahya and Hamed Shafia were found guilty in all four deaths.

“It is difficult to conceive of a more despicable, more heinous crime … the apparent reason behind these cold-blooded, shameful murders was that the four completely innocent victims offended your completely twisted concept of honor … that has absolutely no place in any civilized society,” a judge said during the ruling.
