Is it coincidental that Seal’s new record dropped right as he announced his divorce from Heidi Klum and did interviews with Ellen DeGeneres and Tavis Smiley? Plus, the tracks all seem like love songs about his failed relationship…
Did Seal and Heidi Klum decide to time the announcement of their split around his album release? Interestingly enough, the 48-year-old singer’s new album of love songs called Soul 2 dropped Jan. 24 — just two days after the couple released a statement announcing their divorce.
What we can’t help but notice is that Seal has already been on a media blitz discussing his split — and his new album — with Ellen DeGeneres and with PBS’ Tavis Smiley. To top it off, all the tracks on the album are remakes of famous love songs, like “Wishing on a Star,” “Let’s Stay Together” and “Love Don’t Live Here Anymore” — essentially songs he could be singing to Heidi in the midst of their relationship issues.
We probably wouldn’t have even thought twice about a new album by Seal, but now we’re listening to all the songs and can’t help but apply them to Seal and Heidi’s life. Although we’re sure things were going downhill in their relationship for awhile, it seems Seal and Heidi were smart business people with the timing of their announcement and record, and experts agree.
“Personal lives can affect an artist’s career,” Billboard editor Bill Werde told E! News. “In certain kinds of ways, this might only be good for the release of his album. There are certain platforms in this celebrity-driven world where booking an appearance for Seal becomes more interesting now because there’s a celebrity divorce to discuss and not just a new Seal album.”
We couldn’t have said it better ourselves. Are you more likely to buy Seal’s album now that he’s relevant in the news? Sound off below!
