A source close to the couple says that when they got involved, their relationship had extra magic. But the spark suffered because they spent so much time apart — especially because Seal was a little volatile.
Heidi Klum‘s separation from her husband Seal is still shocking to fans, but an insider that knows the couple tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY that her high expectations may have driven them apart!
Heidi, 38, and Seal, 48, revealed the news in a statement on Jan. 22. Our source says the split happened because Heidi’s idealistic view of love just didn’t come true.
“Heidi had very high expectations of romance,” the source said. “Their relationship had some extra magic and sparkle at the beginning. They had a high romance factor and very high emotional factor for a long time. When they ran into problems, it was hard for her to deal with the reality of it not being so magical. ”
Disagreements escalated due to Seal’s temper and his desire to keep his career moving along.
“When someone is a little volatile on one side, it makes it hard to figure out how to be together,” the source said. “He’s not interested in changing any of his travel or tour arrangements. He’s leaving to be in Australia for while. He has a tour there. He’s not interested in derailing his career further. She already has a successful career. They got accustomed to living apart and living life apart. Heidi lives in Los Angeles and her first focus is being a mom, as well as taping Project Runway.”
Heidi and Seal wed on May 10, 2005 and have three biological kids together: Henry Günther, 6, Johan Riley, 5, and Lou, 2. Additionally, Seal adopted one of Heidi’s children, 7-year-old Leni, from her previous relationship with Flavio Briatore.
