Beyonce says Etta is ‘eternally great’ while paying tribute to the musical diva, who passed away at age 73.
Singing legend Etta James passed away on Jan. 20 in Los Angeles, and Beyonce portrayed the icon in the 2008 film Cadillac Records. After hearing of her death, Beyonce came out to say that Etta was “one of the greatest vocalists of our time.”
The singer, 3o, took to her website to write, “Playing Etta James taught me so much about myself, and singing her music inspired me to be a stronger artist.”
The new mom marveled at James’ voice, remarking, “When she effortlessly opened her mouth, you could hear her pain and triumph. Her deeply emotional way of delivering a song told her story with no filter.”
Beyonce went on to say that the incredible singer “will be missed.”
Were you devastated to hear the news of Etta’s passing, HollywoodLifers?
