Stefan showed signs of improvement this week. Do you think this means he & Elena will get back together?
After a week of awkward tension, Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Elena (Nina Dobrev) decided to tell everyone about their big kiss on the Jan. 19 episode of The Vampire Diaries — and much to my surprise, the most emotional reaction came from the seemingly heartless Stefan (Paul Wesley)! Maybe there’s some humanity in there after all.
“You’re better than him, Elena,” Stefan told her after apologizing for kidnapping her last week. “You’re better than both of us.” Stefan wasn’t quite as forgiving of Damon, however, as he greeted him with a big ol’ punch in the face when he returned home. Ah, brotherly love.
Meanwhile, desperate to open the elusive coffin, Bonnie (Kat Graham) and friends met up with her estranged mother Abby (Persia White), but they were disappointed to discover that Abby lost her powers when she originally put down Mikael (Sebastian Roché.) After a close encounter with Abby’s compelled buddy Jamie (Robert Ri’chard) — and his shotgun — Bonnie agreed to help her mother get her powers back.
Speaking of the coffins, Klaus (Joseph Morgan) used his scary vampire powers of persuasion — and smooth, charming British accent — to convince the witches to reveal the coffins to him. All but one, that is, as Damon managed to hide it away before Klaus could get his handsome hybrid hands on it.
Back in Mystic Falls, Tyler (Michael Trevino) spent most of the episode shirtless and in chains — don’t you hate when he does that? — as Bill Forbes (Jack Coleman) tried to help him control his ability to change. It didn’t exactly work, though, and a fully transformed Tyler ended up hunting him down in the woods.
We also learned Meredith’s (Torrey DeVitto) little secret this week: She drains vampire blood and injects it into her patients to keep them alive. Bill was this week’s lucky recipient, and once he was up and about, he told Tyler there is hope of him breaking his sire bond. Once his transformations stop being painful, he’ll be able to break free — but that’s still a long way off.
And that’s it. Nothing else big happened. Oh, wait… I guess there was one more little twist at the end of the episode: Thanks to Damon playing a game of “pull the dagger out of the Original, Elijah (Daniel Gillies) is back!
Commence happy dance!!!
OK, let’s talk: How did your opinion of Stefan change after this episode? Should Elena forgive what he did and take him back?
