'Revenge' Recap: The Truth About Charlotte Comes Out — Sort Of

A storm, both literal and metaphorical, has hit the Hamptons — expect heavy rains and painful revelations.

If Victoria (Madeleine Stowe) ends up with nothing after her divorce, as I suspect she will, she might want to consider a career as a publicist. The truth about Charlotte’s (Christa B. Allen) paternity was revealed to all on the Jan. 18 episode of Revenge, but thanks to a major self-edit on her story, Victoria managed to come out looking like the victim — in Daniel’s (Josh Bowman) eyes, at least.

Victoria told her son that David Clarke (James Tupper) raped her, failing to mention the affair she carried on with the accused terrorist. But Conrad (Henry Czerny) wasn’t quite as understanding, as he kicked Charlotte out of his house and told Victoria she’d soon be a “penniless bitch.” I’d say he was out of line, but hey, father knows best.

But it wasn’t all gloom-and-doom for the Graysons this week. Daniel finally went ahead with his proposal to Emily (Emily VanCamp), and as you can probably gather from their engagement party on the pilot, she said yes. And while Jack (Nick Wechsler) was surprised by the news, he was more surprised by the intruder who kicked the crap out of him in his apartment after stealing the tapes Emily planted for Amanda (Margarita Levieva.)

And speaking of Amanda, her mysterious ability to eat strawberries — the real Amanda had a severe allergy — raised Victoria’s eyebrow, so she had a DNA test done to find out if she’s really who she says she is. Thanks to a sneaky switch with Emily’s blood, Victoria’s suspicions were put to rest. At least for now.

Hmmm…how long can that tape stay hidden? How long until Fauxmanda returns? How long until Ashley finally freaking gets to do something?!

Great episode. Packed with truths and lies…only Vampire Diaries burns through plot like Revenge.
