Michelle Williams Golden Globes Speech

At the 2012 Golden Globes, Michelle dedicated her best actress award to her daughter — and she told HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY just how much Matilda means to her!

Michelle Williams took home the Best Actress in a Motion Picture (Musical or Comedy) award at the Golden Globes, and she says it’s all because of her adorable six-year-old Matilda Ledger. “None of this would be possible if it weren’t for my baby daughter,” Michelle revealed to HollywoodLife.com exclusively. “I owe everything to to her. She is the reason I live, breathe and eat!”

In her heartfelt acceptance speech, Michelle credited Matilda for winning the coveted Best Actress award.

“I consider myself a mother first and an actress second, and so the person I most want to thank is my daughter, my little girl, whose bravery and exuberance is the example that I take with me in my work and in my life,” Michelle said.

The 31-year-old My Week With Marilyn star revealed that she read bedtime stories to Matilda in her Marilyn Monroe voice!

“I want to say thank you for sending me off to this job every day with a hug and a kiss,” Michelle gushed. “I couldn’t have done it any other way. It made me so excited to come home at night. And for suffering for six months of bedtime stories, where all the princesses were read aloud in a Marilyn Monroe-sounding voice.”

michelle is in a unique position as a parent. blessed (some may say cursed) with the awareness that parental mortality will show itself too soon in a child’s life, whether it’s at 2- or 20- or 40. i think in addition to enjoying every moment she is blessed to have together with her, she also understands that she has to raise a daughter who will be happy and self-sufficient even when michelle is gone. i am always touched by michelle’s grace and sincerity.
