'Teen Mom 2' Preview: Kailyn Lowry & Jo Rivera's Argument About Child Support Heats Up

Kailyn is so broke, she decides to file for child support — but Jo’s not ready to cough up the dough!

On the last episode of Teen Mom 2, Kailyn Lowry crashed her car. Cash-strapped and unsure how she can pay all her bills, she decides to ask Jo to contribute. Co-parenting with Jo Rivera was going so well until they started talking money! Watch as their fight escalates in this new sneak preview from MTV.

The two meet up in the clip to talk finances. The court wants Jo to pay $470 a month, but that’s about half of his paycheck.

He doesn’t want to pay that much if the two aren’t dating anymore.

Sadly, the two can’t agree, so they’ll have to take this argument to the courts.

These chicks made 70k the 1st season and around 280k the 2nd season… who needs child support??!? i understand, it is the whole point, but the childsupport shouldnt be as up. He is a good dad, he gets his child, and honestly if kail didnt have the nice teen mom salary which most people with a bachelors degree hardly makes, she would probably still being supported by jo.

Jo and his family have done a lot for Issac and her. She should be greatful. I understand she should indulge some for herself, but she also should maybe ask for less being she gets so much help from her ex’s family. Jo helps more than any father u see in that show.

Jo is young and ignorant about about the law in respect to child support. The courts don’t care if they are dating or not, the money is for the child, not for her. He is the dad and that is what they will make him pay. I’m surprised his mom and/or his dad hasn’t explained how the law work, besides they both get a Teen Mom 2 check so he’s not really hurting. This is scripted for TV.

Okay this is what happens when you have a child. By law she is entitled to child support from Jo regardless of the situation. She deserves to get her nails done get a freakin haircut or tattoo she’s a single mom raising a child she’s respnsible, not going out drinking doing drugs getting arrested like most of the teen moms! Props to her I love her girl stand up for your rights!! <3

I’m not saying that he should not have to pay or be responsible for his child.

She is not putting out the whole story on how much he and his family do for her and her baby.

It is irritating that she says she is broke but has money for a tattoo, haircut, nails and her nice evo. Come one. BROKE??

She got her tattoo for free.

And anyway, who says she can’t save up for one if she wants?

I am a single mother, paying 70% of my income on rent alone, I only get $40 a fortnight from my ex for child support, he only has her 1 day a week, and I saved forever to finally get my tattoo for my daughter.

Get over this “mums can’t have anything” deal. As long as Issac has everything he needs, Kail is free to spend her money on what she wants.

Jo has that child three days out of the week, not only that but his brother takes care of that baby while Kail goes to school for FREE!!

She also gets food stamps and income based housing!

She says she is broke but she has fake nails and has money for a tattoo?

Tell me how that is fair.

well obviously hes gonna have to pay half of his paycheck.. im sure kail spends ALL of her paycheck on Isaac and herself. Jo is living with mommy and daddy so whats the big deal?

470$ is almost nothing compared to what he will have to pay once he gets a decent job.

Why should he have to pay child support? She knew when she decided to parent what would come along with it. Him and his family help with isacc a lot he does his share of the work if she cant afford the baby maybe jo should keep him and she gets him on weekends. Then shed have to pay cs and see how dumb it is. Im way too proud to take cs im not going to force it on anybody

If you are not getting child support because you are ‘too proud’ then you are just being selfish. Child support is just what it says…child support. It is not money for you, it is money to take care of your child…period. You are ridiculous. The noncustodial parent is responsible for child support as well as health insurance. That is the law. Deal with it.

It shouldn’t be HALF his paycheck. It will be around 20 percent of his paycheck. That’s how it works. I don’t see why he’s having a fit over something that needs done. He does not keep the child 50% of the time so he will automatically be told by the courts to pay. He’s being loud and crying about it because he doesn’t want Kailyn to have anything. He wants her dirt poor and depending on him for his generous gifts that come rarely and far between. He’s the dad, let him pay and let him get over it. I also believe Janelle should be paying child support since she lost custody of Jace and his father sends in support to her mother. It’s only fair since she’s not his adoptive mom.

I totally agree- Jo just wants Kailyn to be totally dependent on him! She and Isaac are ENTITLED to child support. I’m totally against people feeling entitled normally- but in this situation- this is Jo’s kid too! The amount is decided by statute and the courts. There is a set formula that the courts use 99% of the time.
Jo needs to stop whining while sitting in his mom and dad’s HUGE house probably paying no expenses complaining that he has to help take care of his own child!!! He should have been paying this all along! Screw his music career- this is money owed to support his child- this is priority whether he likes it or not.
