'Gossip Girl' Scoop: Blair May NOT Be A Runaway Bride, Says EP Josh Safran

Much to the dismay of ‘Chair’ fans, Blair may go through with her royal wedding after all! HollywoodLife.com got the scoop exclusively from the show’s executive producer Josh Safran.

The return of Gossip Girl is right around the corner, which means we’re THAT much closer to the highly anticipated Jan. 30 wedding episode! Executive Producer Josh Safran, the mastermind behind the show, had a few minutes to catch up with HollywoodLife.com and help ease our anxiety — sort of.

We’ve been tortured all season long as Blair (Leighton Meester) has been preparing to walk down the aisle with the awful Prince Louis (Hugo Becker), but the paparazzi photos we saw of her on the streets in her wedding dress gave us hope — will Blair be a runaway bride?

“I don’t know if those photos are necessarily of her as a runaway bride, I will say that,” Josh told us.  ”I also will say, yes, there is a wedding that is planned, but whatever happens at the end of that altar I won’t comment on.”

What Josh could tell us, however, is that all of the back-and-forth between Blair, Chuck, Louis and Dan (Penn Badgley) is about to come to an end!

“She will stop going back and forth well before the end of this season,” he told us.

This could is good news — assuming she chooses Chuck, of course.

.

Read on for our full interview with Josh…

HollywoodLife.com: At the end of the midseason finale, Charlie/Ivy (Kaylee Defer) left town. Will she return?

Josh Safran: It looked like she left, but whether she’s gone or not, it’s Gossip Girl. Ivy’s story continues.

HL: What about the real Charlie? Will we ever meet her?

JS: There was a clue this season that she existed in the playbill. I think that put to rest the rumor that there never was a real Charlie. I always loved that rumor; I thought it was really funny. At least we know there is a real Charlie out there, but whether or not we are going to need her is something we’re still talking about at this time. That’s not to say you won’t meet her…

HL: Let’s talk about Diana Payne (Elizabeth Hurley). Why is she out to get the real Gossip Girl?

JS: I will say that her reasoning for why she’s out to get Gossip Girl will be revealed this season.

HL: Some fans are theorizing that she’s actually Chuck’s mom. Can you say anything about that?

JS: I’m not going to comment on anything about her story line.

HL: Since we’re on the subject of the real Gossip Girl, do you know when we’ll actually find out who she is?

JS: That story is very much still continuing and that is a story that we very much have planned fully.

HL: And what about Blair’s friendship with Serena (Blake Lively)? Does Dan mess that up at all?

JS: What I will say is that Serena and Blair’s friendship is that I know some people feel like we didn’t service it fully in the first half of the season. But we believe they were very close — with the exception of episode five when they sort of had their arguments. But they live together, they share a bathroom, they’re really close friends, and that’s something we wanted to showcase even more coming up. People sort of felt like, ‘Wait, where have Serena and Blair gone?’ And in our mind, we were like, ‘It’s because they’re not having problems. They’re just happy friends. Hugging was sort of enough.’ In the wedding, Serena is very much by Blair’s side throughout that entire episode for instance. In our minds,, because because hey’re not having problems, we’re like, they’re friends. We haven’t necessarily showcased that as much as the fans would like. In our brains, we thought we had. We’re just making sure to hit that even harder.

HL: We hear there’s a new blonde in the UES. Who is she?

JS: She’s a new love interest for Nate [Chace Crawford] and she’s awesome. You will see her come in the few upcoming episodes.

OK, Gossip Girl fans — What are your thoughts on our interview with Josh? Which guy do you think Blair will choose? Are you excited for more Blair/Serena scenes? Drop us a comment with your hopes, predictions… and yes, even your fears.

If Blair marries the prince and not Chuck I’m out! That is NOT rewarding to this fan!

LOVE that all the back and forth will stop soon and i hope it ends with CHAIR TOGETHER FOREVER!!

interested in meeting the real charlie.

um, so since blair/serena aren’t having any problems it means we don’t need to see them as much? that makes no sense. i don’t only want to see relationships that are going to hell i want to see the sane and stable ones too please.

I hate the writers are doing this to Chuck and Blair. Is it supposed to be punishment for Chuck? It feels like punishment to the loyal fans that have stuck it out through tremendous angst and drama. I hope we get some good payoff for Chuck and Blair after all is said and done. The journey has been awful but they keep us hanging on with episodes like the midseason finale.

The idea of Blair marrying a guest star is so depressing. She needs to be with her soulmate Chuck.

Thanks for hte interview Nicole. Hate that Blair might marry Louis. So depressing. I can’t see how Schwartz finds this rewarding.
