Ben reveals how he made it through each rose ceremony in a new video interview.

Ben Flajnik knows that it’s not easy being The Bachelor, especially when it comes to rose ceremonies. In a new interview with AOL, Ben admits he had a tough time remembering the names of all the women.

“It’s tough to remember everybody’s name,” Ben confesses. “I flubbed it up a lot of times throughout the season.”

Ben would have to take breaks during rose ceremonies to learn girls’ names. “I can’t remember 18 names in a row,” he shares. “So I memorized like four or five at a time. Then I signaled one of the producers like, ‘I can’t remember anymore, so it’s time to go back and learn another five.'”

Before becoming The Bachelor, Ben competed for Ashley Hebert‘s love on The Bachelorette. Looking back, Ben says that his nerves were the same in both situations. “Your nerves are there no matter what,” he explains. “You just have to focus on your breathing and don’t lock your knees. You have a lot to remember: multiple speeches that you’re giving, the list of the women’s names.”

And when it came to selecting which women would make it to the next round, Ben claims he always selected the women that he had the most feelings for. “You have to make calculated decisions,” he says. “You can’t always say this is the prettiest girl, so I’m going to keep her around. You’ve got to take it serious. It has everything to do with your chemistry, and if there is any and if it’s working. Really, all it boils down to is chemistry and timing.”
