Amber, who was on suicide watch earlier this month, reveals in a letter from jail that she is not allowed to write with a pen because she could use it to harm herself.
Teen Mom star Amber Portwood wrote a letter to her brother from jail in December claiming that cops won’t let her use a regular pen to write with because they fear that Amber will use it to stab herself. The 21-year-old reality start, who was placed on temporary suicide watch earlier this month, has to use a “special flexible writing utensil,” according to TMZ. This pen prevents inmates from stabbing themselves.
While this special pen seems to be part of typical jail protocol, Amber doesn’t want people to think that she’s dangerous. In the letter obtained by TMZ, Amber also reveals her fears about going to prison.
“I don’t think I’ll ever take this sh*t for granted,” Amber writes in her letter. “I’m really scared I’m going to prison.”
Amber also can’t stop thinking about how her time behind bars is going to effect her 3-year-old daughter Leah. “All I think about is Leah and how she needs a rolemodel,” she admits. “I am a good person and I pray that I can change my life.”
Amber is currently behind bars awaiting a Jan. 27 hearing date to battle her probation violation charges.

Amber has admitted to being mentally illl and nor wanting to do anything about it. So, this is how that ends. Amber is nowhere near alone. Mentally ill people very often resist treatment. The mental healthcare system in this country is broken and I don’t foresee in my lifetime it ever getting fixed. Mentally ill people are forced to take care of themselves. So do. Many don’t. A percentage of those who don’t can’t. As a society, however, we just don’t care. The jails and streets are flooded with mentally ill people. We choose to ignore the problem. Out of sight, out of mind. Very few people choose, out of sound body and mind, to be homeless. I’ve seen half a dozen hanging around where I live. Not one of them is right in the head, clearly.

i wish her the best, too. clearly she needs a sturdy support system. i hope whatever happens, she learns from it and reaches her goal of being a good role model for her daughter. best wishes for both of them. it’s heart-breaking to watch people mess up when a child is involved. but amber, the true judge of a person’s character is how they behave when the chips are down. take care of yourself and do your best to keep improving. someone depends on you.

That is delusional that she thinks she needs to be a role model or even near her child! She’s mentally unstable, contrary to her belief she’s not a good person, and the best thing she can do is stay away from Leah. I hope they lock her up. I think it’s funny how she thought she was gonna Lohan her way out of this!!!
