Courtney and Blakey Shea’s true colors come out on ‘The Bachelor.’ Courtney seems more into getting the rose than Ben — and Blakeley uses her sex appeal to distract Ben from the other women.
It’s time for Ben Flajnik to start guarding his heart during this season of The Bachelor. During the Jan. 9 episode, Ben and the women travel to Sonoma, Calif. where Ben hopes to try and get the women to open up to him. Only, two women stand out as the ones that Ben needs to watch out for. Courtney Robertson seems more into winning than falling in love with Ben. And, the other women can’t stand that Ben is blinded for Blakeley Shea‘s sex appeal.
Kacie Boguskie gets the first one-on-one date. They go to dinner and Ben opens up about his dad. Ben gives Kacie the first rose of the the episode — and they kiss. They next watch home movies of both Kacie and Ben as kids. Ben’s clips show him with his dad as a little boy. Ben and Kacie both tear up. ”Sharing that moment with Kacie is something I’ll never forget,” Ben says. “I think that my dad would really like Kacie B.”
Ben next goes one a group date with 12 girls — Brittney, Rachel Truehart, Jennifer, Blakeley, Emily, Jenna, Shawn Reynolds, Monica Spannbauer, Samantha Levey, Jamie Otis, Nicki Sterling and Jaclyn Swartz.
For the group date, Ben introduces the girls to a group of “playwrights” who turn out to be kids. “We wrote a fairytale and you have to audition,” one kid shares.
The girls and Ben end up having to perform a play in a theater. Ben plays the role of “Prince Pinot of Bachelorville.” During the play, Ben strips down. Is it appropriate for Ben to perform a male strip show in front of a group of kids? Oh well. The play ends in success despite Ben’s shirtless stunt.
During the night portion of the group date, the drama heats up. Blakeley seems more interested in Ben this week than her girlfriend Monica — and obsessed with getting the rose. “Blakeley comes off as aggressive and bold,” Nicki comments. Blakeley is so crazed that she pulls Ben off for some alone time.
Blakeley and Ben play around in the pool. “Now it’s some grownup time with Ben,” she says before they make out in the water. “I love it.” Blakeley gets what she wants as Ben hands her the rose. The other women look hurt and jealous.
“Blakeley is a sl*t,” says Samantha. “Ugh. We hate you. She’s very horsey.”
“All these b*tches, I just got the rose,” brags Blakeley. “The whole reason I was there was to get the rose, so that was that.”
Back at the house, a group of girls await for the last date card to arrive. Courtney Robertson wins the date over Lindzi Cox and Erika Uhlig and rubs it in their faces. “How did that taste coming out of your mouth,” Courtney brags to Kacie, who read the card. “That kind of rubbed me the wrong way,” Kacie admits. “You’re not a good person.”
“I thought maybe she was a real person,” Erika agrees. “She’s purposely doing this to get under our skin.”
Ben and his dog Scotch finally go to pick Courtney up for their date. Despite her haughty attitude, Courtney seems happy to seem Ben at first. They drive out to the woods to have a picnic. Courtney tells Ben that she hasn’t been asked out on a date in a while. Sorry Ben, but Courtney doesn’t seem that genuinely into Scotch, or you. Ben seems oblivious and infatuated by Courtney. Is he in love? But the better question, is she playing him?
During the evening part of the date, Ben opens up about wanting to take the next step in his life. Ben gives Courtney the rose. He has such a big smile on his face and seems blown away by Courtney. Sadly, it looks like Courtney is more interested in fixing her hair for a good shot in front of the cameras than being sincere with Ben.
“Courtney does make me think big picture,” Ben gushes.
Courtney’s true colors come out back at the house. She’s more happy about getting a rose than with Ben’s feelings for her. “All the other girls should watch out, because I got the rose,” she boasts. “I’m very happy about how the date went.”
During the cocktail party, Ben spends some time with Lindzi. They seem to have a very easy connection — and she seems so into him. Ben, this girl is good for you. Keep her around.
Blakeley’s claws again come out. She keeps stealing Ben away during the party. “Everybody is about to elbow this b*tch in the face,” one girl warns.
Blakeley runs into the luggage room and hides in a corner to cry. She’s upset that the other women are hating one her. Ben finds Blakeley first to comfort her. Next, he has to pull Jenna out of a bed where she has also been crying.
Ben sends Jenna and Shawn home during the rose ceremony.

Truly a sad season of the Bachelor. Ben rejects the good girls, in favor of a fake, pretentious and selfish woman. Aka Courtney. I was sad to see Shawntel treated badly. She is truly beautiful and should have been given a shot. Just because your job title is MODEL, that does not make you a good person. Also Just because Ben Flajnik got the lead on the Bachelor 16, does not mean he is a good catch. He is sleazy, Just like Courtney. A match made in heaven. I feel sorry for scotch. He will probably be the loser in all this.

I enjoy watching the Bachelor with my 17 year old daughter. We laugh, giggle, comment on clothing styles etc. But it really opens up conversations about what to look for in a man, respecting yourself enough not to let other people(woman) define who YOU are in the world, and find a man who is smart and doesn’t get off on female drama or fooled by bare naked ladies. I thought Ben would be a good Bachelor- but boy were we disappointed. He isn’t the mature man ready to find a wife and settle down with a family. He still is that frat boy looking for a good party and a frolic in bed (pool, ocean.hole in the ground) or where ever he can get some. There several beautiful, funny, smart woman who would be good wives and mothers for a growing family, NOT Courtney though. Seems so clear it is ridiculous he doesn’t see it. Emily, Kacie, Nicki look forward, not back. The best is yet to come. Ben I hope your family can show you how badly you behaved. Hard to believe you were the shy, self conscious one only a few months past. Your minute of fame really did go to your head, You’re “too sexy” for America now. Please be aware that Courtney needs therapy…really she does. I’m a healthcare professional and she needs a pysch eval and possibly meds before she hurts herself or someone else. “I want to rip her head off and verbal abuse her” with a bizarre affect/facial expression as she says things like that is not normal!! Good bye Bachelor- this season is our last for sure! So sad it had to end this way. So sad….
