ok, i’m sorry, but i’m not a huge fan of Harry Potter. don’t get me wrong, i’m not criticizing them, i’m just saying i prefer Twilight. why do people compare these movies so much??? they’re COMPLETELY DIFFERENT STORIES. everyone knows Harry Potter is more popular than Twilight because Harry Potter has been around since 2001. while Twilight has only been around since 2008. each movie has done their own thing. Harry Potter has completely changed the way we see wizards & has become a family story for all people. Twilight has completely changed the way we see vampires. now we see them in a more loving way & less of a killing way. Twilight has also started at least 4-5 TV shows that are vampire/supernaturally related because studios wanted to try & get on Twilight’s level. i personally think Twilight & HP are great stories that can be told to later generations who missed out on it. i don’t think 2 completely different franchises with different time frames should be criticized at all.

Both movies are DIFFERENT. Everyone should stop criticizing those movies. They are just movies, for heaven’s sake. And for the people comparing Stewart to Watson, please, they have both different acting skills. And you can’t say Stewart doesn’t have emotions, which is not true. She is not a human robot. God made each of us unique, different and beautiful from each other. And if you say He forgot to make Stewart unique and beautiful, you are already insulting God’s creation. Stephanie Mayer and J.K. Rowling have different thinking. They are both different. I love Harry Potter more than Twilight but I wouldn’t want to say bad stuffs about Twilight. THEY HAVE THEIR OWN STORY. My comment might be just useless or trash or whatever to some of you, and I know by just some words you can’t directly stop criticizing (because, of course, I am not your boss or etc. and I can’t control you, duh) but at least, I know that some of you might consider my comment.

i hope Stewart and Pattinson would win the Best Kiss in the MTV Awards show…oh and I love Twilight and Harry Potter. ;]
oh yeah and I agree with Debby. We have our own opinions but we shouldn’t criticize those movies, both are different and nice. And it isn’t nice to criticize, you know.

hahahahaha….I think we forgot everybody has a brain except those brainless people….don’t compare the Twilight movies & HP movies cuz they are pretty much different. Twi mostly for teens & moms (FEMALE audience) while HP for all ages KIDS (family audience)….when you campare those two movies the result is you’re comparing college graduates(moms) & highschool(teens) versus elementary (whole family)…

60% of the audience for DH2 were over 25! It was also almost equal in terms of male/female split.

Let’s just look at the box office of the 4 Twilight films and the first 4 HP films (exclude HP5 up to HP7.2) to know which is more favored by the public.. :-)

Just a reminder to all you twihards…the LOWEST ranking Harry Potter movie made more money at the box office than the HIGHEST ranking Twilight movie. Just sayin…

Look it up for yourself.

Forbes titled it wrong! Highest grossing couple honor should have gone to Bella and Edward. After all,Twilight is all about the couple. Forbes even got their names wrong. Instead of Kristen and Robert, they should have put Bella and Edward. Don’t get me wrong, coz I’ve read the article in their site. I agree, there should be no cut, five years, four years and etc. The article should live by its title ” The highest grossing on screen couple”. If this would be their basis then Watson and Grint would have Deathly hallows only under their belts. Obviously, their kiss in Deatly H entitled them for the honor, because I don’t think that they already became a couple in the previous series other than DH. While Twilight, well, let’s all award it all to Robsten!! They deserve it. Well, more than deserve it! If this would be the case, Bella and Edward would have gotten the honor as the highest grossing ONSCREEN COUPLE!!

Even if you took Ron and Hermione out of it (which I do not agree with, I think they do qualify as a couple for most of the series as its made blatantly obvious that they love each other, it just takes them forever to admit it, they also ask each other out a couple of times during the series but it just never goes right) and go by when a couple kiss/openly declare love etc, Bella and Edward still would be highest of past 5 years but not of all time. Aragon and Arwen were together from the fellowship of the ring and whilst they were separated and there was complications they were a couple throughtout so they’d be higher grossing. Will and Elizabeth from Pirates of the Carribbean got together in movie 1 and were together until movie 3 so they would be higher grossing. Shrek and Princess Fiona from movies 1 to 4 would also be higher grossing! They’re all just off the top of my head… The title isnt highest grossing love story, its highest couple, so they’d all count…

Twillight budget is way lower than HP. First movie, 30 million bring more than 300 million, second movie 58 million brought 700 million. It’s not even in 3 D. So Twillight is great in itself

I read the title and thought that Rob and Kristen were named that, not their characters. Lol. Btw, it’s Rupert Grant, not Grint. Also you asked “Which series do you like better?” Then put Breaking Dawn or Harry Potter. You should’ve put Twilight, because BD is a individual film, not a series. Just sayin’.

Um, the Harry Potter movies have made about 7.8 billion, this list is only on the last five years, which is just four HP movies so 4.2 Billion.
This is NOT, I repeat NOT, a highest grossing couple ever list!!

This is only based on 4 potter movies…!! so it’s 4 v 4 and if you take that the last potter movie was in 3D that would not make a difference of 1.7 billion lmao…

You did no research!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
list is of the last five years so only on the last four HP movies which is 4.2 billion, all 8 movies movies have grossed 7.8 billion!!!!!
This was forbes list of highest earning of last half a decade, they did of all time last year, Rob and Kristen came out 5th.

This is really bad journalism, you totally missed that its the highest earning couple Of The LAST FIVE YEARS not of all time!! Honestly did you even read the Forbes article?
That’s terrible.
So to those who are interested in the actual list, it’s highest earning couples of the last half decade, so it’s 4 HP movies not all eight, against 4 twilight movies.

The Twilight books may be popular but the movies are utter garbage and mostly unwatchable. Twilight movies are full of bad dialogue, horrible acting, amateurish effects, and recycled characters.

I think it’s one of the most critically paned film series’ ever made. It’s critical reviews, average film critic rating and ratings on IMdb and Rotten Tomatoes from both critics and also more importantly the public are absolutely dreadful… Pieces of the cinema they ain’t!

It is only last 4 Harry Potter movies that earned 4.2 billions! Not all 8!

And Twilight has more fans than Harry Potter? On what planet is that?

Yeah, twilight having more fans is clearly seen in its 4 movies making 2.5billion and 4 of HPs movies making 4.2 billion. It’s also really clear from HP having part of a themepark in florida and universals gate receipts going up 40% since it opened and it being so successful they’ve decided to open another in LA and are considering others in Asia. That’s aside from the books being the biggest selling book series in literary history…

And before someone says the HP books have sold more than twlight because there’s more, if you tripled twilights sales it still wouldnt touch HP.

Not a single Twilight movie has ever eclipsed Harry Potter, even without the 3-D. The lowest grossing Harry Potter movie grossed more in theaters than the highest grossing Twilight film. So LittleMo and other Twilight fans who are in denial need to look at Harry Potter’s box office numbers. And I believe Breaking Dawn didn’t make over 700 million and Harry Potter averages about 900 million. And I’m sick of all these Twilight fans complaining that the only reason that HP grossed more money is because it has more movies. But if you compare the first 4 Twilight movies to the first 4 Harry Potter movies, Harry Potter still beats Twilight by a long shor. Even the first 3 Harry Potter movies grossed more than what Twilight has now. So live with it and stop hating on Harry Potter because you are jealous of their success!

LittleMo is quite right! When added side by side, movie for movie, Twilight beats Harry Potter. In my mind, there is no comparisson. Bella and Edward are the top movie couple of all time–and I’m a fan of Harry Potter too, but the love that Bella and Edward share is the ultimate!

At my age I don’t usually get in these ‘which one” type of discussions. However, before the HP fans start wagging their finger at Twilight people they should remember the only reason Harry Potter has a higher gate is because it has a 7-year head start and there was a theater surcharge for the 3-D format of the last movie. When you run the 2 movies head-to-head The Twilight Saga beats harry potter soundly.

Your comment made me laugh so much i fell off my chair!Harry Potter is BY FAR better than Twilight in EVERY way, it’s the most successful movie franchise EVER, the least financially successful Harry Potter film made $90 million more than the most successful Twilight movie and at last let me quote Stephen King, one of the most talented and successful authors out there:”J.K. Rowling is a terrific writer and Stephenie Meyer can’t write worth a darn. She’s not very good.”
