This winter will be the first time that ‘The Voice’ and ‘American Idol’ are going to compete in the same time slot — should Kelly stay true to show that made her famous?

Kelly Clarkson is sleeping with the enemy! Well not really, but The New York Post reports that the first-ever American Idol winner will be a mentor on The Voice this season and it’s leaving many wondering is this is a jab at the Fox competition show?

Kelly will help coach singers who are working with judge and country singer Blake Shelton in an episode set to air in March or April. Kelly and Blake are both managed by Reba McEntire‘s husband Narvel Blackstock.

Kelly has previously said, “I would never really want to be a judge, just because I don’t want to break people’s hearts.”

The singer reportedly spent New Year’s Eve with Blake and Maroon Five frontman Adam Levine, who is also a judge on The Voice.
