If you love ‘The Hunger Games’ trilogy then you’re also eagerly anticipating the March 23 release of the feature film, but you can get a jump on Katniss’ signature braid right now!

The lead hairstylist on set of The Hunger Games, Linda Flowers, tells BeautyHigh.com how she created the braid that leading lady Jennifer Lawrence wears throughout much of the movie while playing Katniss Everdeen. You might be surprised at her styling tool of choice!

Linda explains that she actually used the TopStyler, by InStyler, to tousle the hair before braiding it. The new hairstyling phenomenon uses heated shell clips to ad texture, volume and curl to your strands.

“Katniss’ signature braid took about 20 minutes — I first used the TopStyler by InStyler to create texture in her hair then I did a French braid from her left side scooping down her nape and over to the right side,” says Linda.

Texturizing the hair before braiding it gives the look much more of an edge. As Linda puts it: “I tried to create something a little more interesting then just a side braid.”

Sounds like something tough-girl Katniss would approve of!
