Shiloh Jolie-Pitt Wants A New Tomboy Name

Shax Jolie-Pitt? Shiloh wants to be just like her brothers in every way — including her name!

She prefers roughhousing and swords to dolls, but Shiloh Jolie-Pitt is taking her tomboy ways to a new extreme! According to In Touch, she’s asking Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie to call her Shax to make her name more like her brothers: Maddox, Pax and Knox. “Shiloh is a very cool kid,” a childhood family friend of Angelina’s explained. “She is independent and smart and knows what she wants — even though she’s a little girl.”

So is the family going along with the 5-year-old’s name change? Yes!

The family friend says Angelina isn’t surprised at all. “Angelina was also a tomboy,” the friend revealed. “She changed her name to Vince when she was the same age.”

Why? What is wrong with being a tomboy? Nothing. I would hate to have you as a mother. Forcing me to be something I am not…she should be able to dress however she wants. She should be able to play with whatever toy she wants, whether it be a doll or a monster truck. There is nothing wrong with it. First of all, on the outside chance a cruel craptastic tabloid story is even true, how is ‘shax,’ a name no one has ever heard before, let alone ascribed gender to, a “tomboy name?”. Answer: it is not. You’re just labeling and putting this little girl under a massive public microscope so people can be critical of her or her parents. It’s child abuse. She’s 5! IF the story is true, it’s a “tomboy name” because Shiloh obviously acquaints the “-x” ending with a boy’s name, a la her three brothers, Maddox, Pax and Knox.

What is the “right” way? Telling her she’s wrong, forcing her into roles she doesn’t like, identify with, or feel comfortable in? You know what that does? It tells her, teaches her, that she’s stupid, incapable of decision-making, it’s abusive behavior. Bravo to her parents for loving her as she is instead of abusing her and doing it the “right” way.

i honestly think that you should let your child express themselves. But allowing her to change her name for it to be more tomboyish is just to far. This may just be a stage and her parents handling this the right way if you ask me.
