'Breaking Dawn' Gets A Major Diss From 'Entertainment Weekly'

Even though they didn’t get respect from the mag, Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart are laughing all the way to the bank — it’s one of the biggest movies ever!

Breaking Dawn is beloved the world over, but Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart are now under attack by one of the biggest movie magazines around!

Entertainment Weekly‘s Lisa Schwarzbaum included the film on her “5 Worst Movies Of 2011″ list, and she wrote a scathing critique of the blockbuster as well.

“That does it,” she writes. “I am so over Bella Swan, especially with Kristen Stewart drooping through the role—the dullest girl ever to be  loved by a  vampire. (She looks pained on an average day; here, during marriage, honeymoon, and the world’s most hideous birth experience, she looks tortured.) And while I’m at it, I’m over this credulous,  dutifully reverent, drawn-out movie adaptation of such an insipid fantasy.  I said it before  and I’ll say it again: You who love The Twilight Saga deserve a much better saga to love!”

Um, first of all. Read the god damn book!! Kristen plays Bella to a tee. Bella is awkward and clumsy that is who Bella is!!!!! Secondly, the movies are following a book wrote by a woman with a vision of a fictional story but no one is dissing the winnie the pooh on screen adaptation of the winnie the pooh books are they? The fans of twilight know that every single person who acts in twilight plays their roles well and according the the book, am I right twilighters? And why get a new saga to love? Is it not right for people to hope in love? Yea ok so no vampires but the whole story is truly about sacrifice and what one would go through in order to protect and be with the one they love. I guess people these days don’t know what thats about anymore, which is why this entire saga and story is so successful, PERIOD!!!!!

Lol First of Lizzie, sweetheart you might know there is something know as charecter limits well if you dont then It means that you cant extend the lengh or words more then what you cellphone or the website permits, Thats why I wrote In short forms so that they can make sense and fit at the same time.

and i highly doubt that the mag would care if you all
canceled your subscription’s.

Twilight Saga is the best Movie series I’ve ever watched… I don’t get tired of watching them. I think this critic needs to try acting first before she says how bad Rob and Kristine looked in the movies… I agree with Melinda, you nailed it girl!

I agree with Melinda all the way, they are acting the characters, so whats your problem, and the fact that they bring in so much money and people is so funny how you can sit there and write how you feel about Kristen and Rob’s acting, no one asked you anyway, I don’t care about what you think or anyone else, I loved the movie and can’t wait for Part 2 to come and when all is said and done I will watch and read the books over and over!!!

OK….Here it is. Yes, I love the Twilight movies and I am actually quite tired of hearing how lifeless, boring, unemotional, and flat the characters are especially Rob and Kristen. NEWSFLASH….they are performing EXACTLY the way the characters are written in the books as well as the script. Edward Cullen is supposed to be a rather self loathing, introverted, mysterious Vampire who has journeyed through years of “looking” for his soulmate. He is a cautious character who can not be revealed to the world so he shies away from it all. Bella Swan is a “misfit” according to her. She is very much an introvert who has never felt like she belongs anywhere. She is also shy and awkward and simply does not want to put herself out there in a world she does not understand. So, seeing the two of them together is like two people learning for the very first time about love and life and feelings. It is a hard thing to do especially if you know that everything in this relationship is fragile and could end at any time. The writers and directors as well as Stephenie Meyer instructed them on how to portray this kind of character and I say Kudos to them for hitting the nail on the head. I felt Bella’s longing for Edward and her fear of the unknown and I felt his deep love and protection for her. It is easy to go crazy in an emotional, action filled scene but it takes much more control and knowledge of acting to remain in control and “still” in that kind of scene. You can sometimes convey a lot more with your eyes and expression…or lack of expression than you can with a full blown facial and bodily movements. It is all about what you want/need to get across and I personally think both actors did a FANTASTIC job. I was totally against watching The Twilight Saga until I saw Rob in Remember Me and then I said…hey, this guy can act. And that’s all she wrote. I love his whole persona and I think she is adorable. They are acting in a fantasy film where anything can happen and as long as it takes me away to a land I love while I watch it, then it is perfect!

I see the shippers are out in full force. You believe in the fallacy because Twilight made a ton of money at the box office it’s a good movie. Well McDonald’s sells billions of burgers and it makes a lot of money, but it doesn’t mean it’s a good and healthy product. It just proves people like junk food a lot. And in the cinematic world Twilight is junk food.

As for attacking the critic, it is his or her to evaluate a film objectively. Yes Twilight is featured many times on EW’s covers, but chalk that up to reporting on a popular movie series. That does not mean this critic is required to be in the tank for Summit, the three lead actors, or anyone else connected to Twilight and give glowing reviews when she feels it’s not warranted. Implying the woman has a bad sex life because she won’t kiss an actor’s butt is silly.

Well, I guess everyone agreed with Lisa Schwarzbaum’s opinion of the film because nobody went to see it and it was a flop at the box office. NOT! IMHO Ms. Schwarzbaum is too harshly critical to critique films….always has been. Besides…..opinions are like —holes. Everybody has one, some just stink more than others ;)

I am seriously considering to cancel my subscription to ETW. I am so tired of hearing these so-called critics diss films because they have one opinionated dummy on their staff. Movies are put out there as an escape from our everyday lives. If we go they make lots of money. If we don’t they flop. Twilight happened to make a ton of money because people enjoyed seeing the series. I don’t think that anything she said really makes a diffenece in the big picture……..

The movies are successful because who people loved the books and go to see the films- not because the actors are good or because it holds up to critical acclaim. However, there are so many things that went wrong with Breaking Dawn, starting from Stephenie Meyer that Kristen Stewart and the movie were doomed from the start.

That being said, the movies are awful, and the only reason they’re making 2 movies out of Breaking Dawn is to make more money. But if you expect Part 2 to have anything more than Kristen staring emotionlessly at her Mary Sue child, you’re wrong.
