Just weeks after Selena tweeted that she was so excited to be a big sister, she cancels concerts and heads home to be with her family.

Selena Gomez‘s family has been hit with devastating news — her mother Mandy has miscarried.

Selena, 19, was so devastated by the news that she cancelled her Dec. 17 concert in Chicago and Dec. 18 date in Seattle, E! News reports.

35-year-old Mandy — who was expecting her first child with Selena’s stepfather Brian Teefy – miscarried on Dec. 16 and Selena was immediately notified. She had been at Power 106′s Cali Christmas 2011 in Los Angeles — the show where her boyfriend Justin Bieber performed with Drake — when she quickly left to head home.

Our hearts go out to Selena’s family during this tough time.

Breanna, that was heartless. Having a miscarriage is a horrible thing. How would you feel if you got pregnant with your first child and you had a miscarriage and then you come to find out that stupid teenagers are saying “I’m glad she miscarried”. How would you feel? Screw you.

Her mother was roughly 3-4 months pregnant, FAR too early to tell the gender of the baby unless her mother had an amniocentesis test, where they insert a needle into the amniotic fluid around the baby in order to tell the gender. Possible side-effects? Miscarriage. And it’s a high risk side-effect as well (1 in 100 chance of miscarrying). If the foetus was only 3-4 months old, and they knew it was a girl, then it’s safe to say that Mandy had an amniocentesis test to determine gender, and as a result she lost the baby. It’s a useless test that allows parents to shop for baby things sooner. Impatience reaps no rewards.

You can usually tell the gender by ultrasound at 16 weeks…it’s very possible to find out early. And not to be graphic, but this was a miscarriage…the baby was out. It’s common procedure for doctors to analyze the fetus to find abnormalities. The gender would absolutely be known.

Also, She’s 35, which is considered “advanced maternal age”, during which many doctors recommend having an amnio. An amniocentesis is also used for MANY things beyond finding out gender. If prenatal testing came back with abnormal results, an amnio would be the next step.

Im just happy that her mom is physically ok, I mean its only going to be an emotional uphill battle from now on, but many people go through this everyday. Everyone just be thankful that Selena and her mother are healthy.

Sounds like a great opportunity for Mandy to adopt Bieber’s Mistress’ kid after the grieving is over. Selena can then have a little bro that looks just like his besty, JustyWusty, Mandy gets the kid due her, the mistress gets her money, and the kid gets a decent loving family. Everybody wins, yay!

I feel bad for Selena and her family, even though I have never really liked Selena. I’m still not sure whether to believe this site or not, but if it is I truly am very sad. This is a celebrity gossip site for ‘tweeners. It’s not a site aimed at adults. Although I’m certain a fair share of adults still frequent it. But if you can’t realize that the target audience here are Jr. High school Twi-hard fans, then you’re not paying much attention.
