A rep for Katie tells HollywoodLife.com that indeed Katie and her live-in boyfriend of five years have called it quits and Brooks is in the process of moving out of her Upper East Side home.
Katie Couric is back on the market. The New York Post broke a story claiming that Katie, 54, and her boyfriend Brooks Perlin, 37, a CFO at Eco Supply Center, called it quits and HollywoodLife.com can exclusively confirm that yes, they’re over!
“The reality is they have a fun time together but ultimately there was only so long it could last,” said a source close to the couple. “He made her happy, they substance. “He made her happy, they made each other happy but she’s is someone of extraordinary substance with a wide range of interests. And they were at different stages in life. He was a good guy but this was inevitable based on their different priorities.”
The source also reveals that the split was “amicable.”
According to New York Post‘s Page Six, Brooks began looking for a new place to live about three months ago and even hired a broker to help him find a new pad. But in an attempt to save their relationship, Katie and Brooks called off the apartment search until they recently decided to break up for good.
Just last May, Katie made a foreboding comment about their relationship: “I am in the process of figuring out the future, and so is he. I am really happy in my personal life . . . but it is complicated.”
Katie’s husband Jay Monahan, died in 1998 at the age of 42, after battling colon cancer. Katie and Jay have two daughters together Ellie, 20, and Carrie, 15.
