Russ Says: Carlos Mencia Rocks At Surprise Comedy Central Event

“Comedy Central Pop-Up Stand-Up” is all about surprising crowds with some of the most entertaining comics around, so consider me one of the lucky ones to catch Carlos Mencia on Dec. 5 at The Ice House in Pasadena.

There were many clues posted online on who would be the surprise guest at The Ice House for the Dec 5th show at The Ice House in Pasadena. But who was it going to be? Well our friends at Comedy Central and Corona delivered with a top notch show with the headliner Carlos Mencia! At first you would of swore that it wasn’t Carlos Mencia, the reason being is that he has recently lost 70 pounds which has drastically made his appearance change in a healthy way.

Just coming off his “Carlos Mencia: New Territory,” Mencia’s one-hour COMEDY CENTRAL on Dec. 4th, Carlos took the gloves off and made fun of anything and everyone. He lacks political correctness in his jokes, which I 100% LOVE! I will admit I was not sure that I would like Carlos Mencia‘s show after so many other comics and friends really put him down, which he did address to the crowd as something that doesn’t bother him at all.

But what I took out of the show, and especially afterwards when he was shaking hands and signing autographs outside for fans was that he is a genuinely humble and funny guy that doesn’t deserve the large amount of the crap he has received during his career from other comics and non fans. It was a great night of comedy that only Comedy Central can deliver. So make sure to catch the special when it re-airs and catch Carlos Mencia on one of his many tour stops.

So HollywoodLifers, if you are not familiar with the comedy of Carlos Mencia or have been turned off by your friends bashing him, I think its time to give him a second chance at a first impression. He’s funny, he’s humble and he’s real. What else do you need from a comic?
