Glee Recap Hold On To Sixteen

After a fierce battle with the Troubletones, New Directions overcomes the competition!

The battle of the Glee clubs was fierce on “Hold On To Sixteen.”

Even without Rachel (Lea Michele), the New Directions were good enough to beat the Troubletones — although they did have a little bit of help from Sam (Chord Overstreet), who returned to add a little bit of star quality to Shuester’s (Matthew Morrison) club.

In between the competition, Mike (Harry Shum Jr.) battled with his father about applying to dance schools, with some nudging from his girlfriend Tina (Jenna Ushokowitz). And Quinn (Dianna Agron) wanted to out Shelby (Idina Menzel) and Puck’s (Mark Salling) relationship. But Rachel convinced her that it wouldn’t be good for Beth if Quinn told on her adoptive mother.

At the end, the second-place Troubletones joined the New Directions for a celebratory song — so it looks like Mercedes (Amber Riley), Santana (Naya Rivera) and Brittany (Heather Morris) will live to sing again.
