We told you the 23-year-old former ‘Gossip Girl’ stylist and fashion blogger was horribly injured and had to have her hand amputated, but after speaking to one of her best friends, it sounds like there’s hope for a strong recovery!
Lauren Scruggs has miraculously survived after walking into a two-seater prop plane’s propellor blade on Dec. 3 and the entire world is awaiting updates on her recovery. HollywoodLife.com has just spoken to a longtime friend of Lauren’s who tells us “Lauren is making progress” but she’s still in the ICU of Dallas’ Parkland Hospital.
“She is making progress,” a friend who preferred to remain unnamed told us. “But it is a long road ahead. It is such a tragedy. She is SO beautiful inside and out.”
According to a spokesperson for the family, Lauren sustained severe head and shoulder injuries, when she turned to thank the pilot and was caught in the spinning blade. Her left hand was severed, she suffered a skull fracture, brain injury and could lose her left eye.
“After exiting a propeller plane, an accident occurred where she walked into the front of the prop,” the spokesperson posted on the website, Caring Bridge. “Struck on the left side of her body, Lauren’s hand, head, and shoulder area were hit.”

How can you hear about something like this and not say a little prayer for Lauren and her family? And to those idiots who posted such stupid hateful insensitive remarks –how can you look at yourself in the mirror? Grow up! Your parents must be so proud…..
To Lauren and her family — There are strangers out here who care and we are praying for you!!

OK, sorry, didn;t realise you know her. I do wish her well and as I said she seems to have a strong family and gorup of friends and that’s better than any medicine.
One point from this tho, I live in Ireland – last year a ‘socialite’ died from bad cocaine. The next day 5 ‘ordinary’ people died at a party for the same reason. Her story ran for months, and still pops up. They got a paragraph and were not even named – to me that sucks.
Hope she (and you) get over this – and lastly – don’t get worked up with others comments – the web is full of nuts and freaks and there’s always gonna be people that’ll joke and post stuff like this, worst thing you can do is rise to it. Tell Lauren about all the good posts here and disregard the crap.

It was an honest mistake that happened in a split second that can’t be undone. Just watching video clips of running propellers,I can see how they become almost invisible, especially in the dark. I feel badly for Lauren and pray for her and her family.
It’s really sad to see how immature, evil and hateful some people are, and how they get enjoyment out of someone’s mistake. What goes around comes around, so to laugh at someone’s tragedy could bring on a tragedy of their own.

Im just sick of the horrible comments and people joking about something this tragic. Lauren and her parents are incredible people and instead of taking the bait from the media wanting to blame the pilot, they took the high road, didnt blame him and agreed it was an accident. take time to check out who these people are….. pretty incredble. (www.hopeformarriages.com ). If you want to call me a fruitcake, then feel free. I probably did get overly worked up over the rude and insensitive comments. My
prayers are with her and their family.

What has happened to Lauren really could have happened to anyone it was an honest matter of being in the wrong place at the wrong time,no fault should be on anyone, but everyone should truly care about another when they are hurt or hurting, she is young and this will affect her,I pray for her ,her family, and friends,no one should ever have to be hurt so bad,and anyone of us is vulnerable,I do believe her strength of being so healthy will help alot in her recovery, this is a sad situation,it helps us to reflect and to think, both important.

Nope, I know her family and they are great people and these jerks our there make me sick. Jeff and cheryl have dedicated their lives to helping others. Of I couldn’t handle myself, I wouldn’t be offering the whipping. Im not a professional, but I’m certainly a seasoned amateur that has never had a problem with bigger opponents. They are usually the slower ones anyway. Yep, I am fired ip because these people disgust me. The Scruggs family is a model for everyone to follow.

I would love to put you in ICU. Maybe the doctors could give you a heart and if you are lucky, they could add some sensitivity, brains and a conscience. And with some really good fortune, I could help with some facial rearrangement. Ien….. That name alone makes me want to smack you. .

Ien,
You are correct – the entire world isn’t awaiting news on Lauren. Luckily for her, she has more friends by her side than you have brain cells you little punk. Lauren and het family are the model of what most humans and families should be. I don’t understand why you would / could post something like you did. If you live anywhere in Texas, I would be happy to drive to meet you to talk about your comment. You are a loser punk that doesn’t know her or her family. Try to get some sensitivity. If you are in Texas, I would be happy to drive to meet you and pummel you. Feel free to reply so I can follow through on my offer punk.
Ien???? Is that really your name and spelling ?? No wonder you are such a dick. …. Who wouldn’t be with a name and spelling like that ? I would love to get my fist on your face after you pulled it out of your comic book or video game you loser. Make my day. Reply.

Omar may god get you for what you say. I hope that he re visits your sarcasm with as much pain and suffering that her and her family are in. Some times you should just keep your mouth shut.. But of course that is why you make such comments, to get attention. Sad story I hope she recovers. You are in our prayers Lauren.

Omar,
I’m not done with you. I pray Lauren recovers and that you reply back with your contact info so I can help you understand pain and being in the ICU. I can’t stand idiots like you and i would love to share with you a little Texas hospitality. Step out from behind your keyboard little man.
Huh? What’s that? I couldn’t understand you with that bottom lip quivering ! Huh, what did you say? Oh – you pissed your corduroy shorts out of fear ? What a tragedy you dork. Try not to ruin your Star Trek shirt you tiny little punk.

To the people who feel it is necessary to make hateful comments you need to take a second and make a rational thought before you say something hateful. No one knows exactly what really happened yet what if the plane was turned off and the propeller was winding down who knows. So before you say something ugly put some thought in what your about to say. And in a situation like this if you are going to be hateful keep it to yourself no one wants to see that because it was a really low move and it shows how low of a person you are. Why is there always someone who makes fun of a bad situation? Why can’t we all have something nice to say? Best wishes to the Scruggs family you are in my thoughts and prayers.

So sick of hearing about her. It’s sad what happened but we don’t need to hear about it every day.
