The Duchess definitely isn’t packing light for her first major holiday with her Royal in-laws!
If you think spending time with your boyfriend’s family or in-laws is stressful, at least it doesn’t require multiple outfit changes in a day! According to Royal etiquette expert Jean Broke-Smith, Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge, who will be spending the holiday at Sandringham Palace, could be expected to change outfits up to five times in a single day. While the Palace has dismissed the idea that Kate will be required to change so many times, she has been shopping at her fave stops along Kings Road including Zara and LK Bennett — in fact, she even ordered two Alexander McQueen gowns for the more formal gatherings Christmas with the Royals might entail.
“She won’t be able to wear the same outfit twice,” Jean told Grazia magazine, as reported by the Daily Mail. “Kate will need a casual outfit for breakfast, a smart outfit – and a hat – for the morning church service, a dress for lunch, a cocktail dress for early evening drinks and a full-length dress for the evening meal.” The expert went on to say that the golden rule is, “nothing too short, too revealing or too gaudy.”
Holidays can be a stressful time, especially when the whole family gets together. The last thing anyone would want to worry about are multiple outfit changes — although I can’t lie, I’m excited to see what get-ups Kate brings along with her.
