Kris Humphries is horrified that he was portrayed as the villain in his estranged wife Kim Kardashian‘s new reality show Kourtney and Kim Take New York that premiered on Nov. 27. Sources reveal that Kris feels that his character on the show wasn’t a “true depiction” and that Kim is to be blamed for the way he was edited to look like the aggressor in their failing marriage.
Kris watched the show in “utter horror, because it’s just not a true depiction about what was actually going on between Kim and Kris,” an insider tells RadarOnline.com.
During the show, Kris poked fun at Kim’s weight, but his words weren’t meant to hurt her. “Kris did jokingly say that Kim ate too much wedding cake, but what viewers didn’t see was Kim nagging Kris about working.”
Kim was constantly pushing Kris to start making money, but “there was nothing he could do about the NBA lockout,” continues the insider. He was working out, and getting ready for the upcoming season, and he is a free agent.”
Kim is the one that made Kris go to Minnesota so that she could have some time away from him. “It was actually Kim’s idea that Kris go back to Minnesota to train and give them some distance,” says the insider.
Plus, Kris couldn’t get any rest in their New York hotel room because of all the noise that Kim’s nephew Mason was making. “Kris wasn’t getting any sleep at all with Mason’s playroom literally set up outside their bedroom door,” claims the insider. “It made no sense for Mason’s play area to be on the second floor of the suite Kim, Kris, Scott and Kourtney were staying in. Scott and Kourtney were staying downstairs, and Scott felt that the producers of the show were just trying to provoke him into reactions.”
Kris’ friends expect that his “character” will grow even worse as the season continues. “A lot of things on reality TV are manipulated easily, but with this show, there were a lot of scenes and situations that are going to paint him in a negative light,” a source explains to the NY Daily News. “Clearly, he never meant [the comment about Kim’s weight], but he’s on camera. They overdramatize for effect on this show.”
The editing is a “big concern” to Kris and his family, adds the source.
And it’s Kim’s fault that Kris is portrayed as the villain. “Clearly, she chose her sister and the show over her marriage and her husband,” says another source.
“Kris wasn’t surprised that he was made to look bad,” the insider shares with RadarOnline.com. “He will just be relieved when the show is over, and his divorce is final.”
Even though Kim filed for divorce on Oct. 31, just 72 days after marrying Kris, he still loves her. Kris still speaks with Kim “cordially,” another source says to the NY Daily News. He “genuinely in love with her.”
