A new study shows that women with a big family are actually less likely to die from cardiovascular disease!
Michelle Duggar shouldn’t worry about cardiac disease — scientists say four or more pregnancies are good for a mother’s heart, according to The Daily Mail! The study focused on about 1,300 post-menopausal women and discovered the key effect was prevention of stroke. Moms with big families were half as likely to die from the condition!
Higher levels of pregnancy hormones might have lasting benefits on blood vessels, according to researchers from the University of California – San Diego. They also noted that women with more kids are getting more social support as they get older.
“The mechanism by which this decreased risk occurs is unknown, however, it may reflect higher fertility in healthier women, the effect of prolonged exposure to higher levels of circulating oestrogen… or the added social support from a larger family,” Marni Jacobs, lead author of the study, wrote.
