Affairs, threesomes and age. There have been plenty of guesses about what actually drove Ashton Kutcher, 33, and Demi Moore, 49, to get a divorce, but friends tell People it really boiled down to insecurities — particularly with their 15 year age gap.
“If anyone was uncomfortable with the age difference, it was Demi, not Ashton,” a friend of Ashton’s said. “She drove him crazy after a while with questions and doubts.”
There have been reports claiming Ashton’s affair with Sara Leal was the straw that broke the camel’s back — and while that may be the case, friends believe his cheating was a symptom of a bigger issue.
“Ashton was ready to end it, [but] he wanted to wait for Demi to actually do it. He loved her but couldn’t live with her,” a source explained, adding, ”They were fed up with each other.”
The question is: was Ashton actually having flings as a way of forcing Demi to split with him? It’s not an unheard of tactic by men who hate confrontation and don’t want to straightforwardly initiate a split. They passive aggressively put their partners into a position where their mates HAVE to split to save themselves and their self respect. Just like Demi did. Hmmm!
