New Study: Fatherhood Makes Bad Boys Become Good Guys

According to new research, guys really do clean up their act after they have a kid!

In this 19-year study, the researchers followed men from when they were 12-years-old until age 31 — and they found that for more than two-thirds of the men having a kid gave them a kick in the pants!

According to the study, after these men became dads tobacco use, crime and drinking decreased — especially in the men who were in their ’20s or later!

But don’t start thinking all bad boys will change their ways!

“There was significant variance among the men, however, in these changes following fatherhood,” the authors of the study point out. “Understanding differences in men’s responses to fatherhood demands further consideration.”

Psychiatrist Gail Saltz told TODAY that this might mean guys who eventually become dads might have the upper hand over others before a child even enters the picture.

“Obviously, if you’ve chosen to be a father, the notion that you would embrace that by living up to that is not a shock,” she said. “What’s shocking is how many don’t.”

Do YOU think fatherhood makes guys change their ways, HollyMoms?
