The family starts their 20-day European world tour — and they visit Scotland and Ireland first!
Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar have been all over the news since they announced they’re now 20 kids and counting last week — just in time for the season premiere of their reality show! In this episode, the family takes their first trip overseas.
Before they leave, they have to prepare — and with 26 people (Jim Bob, Michelle, the kids, Josh, Anna Mackynzie, Michael, Grandma and cousin Amy) that’s no easy task. The family has a meeting and makes a game plan: Jim Bob outlined the trip, Jess was going to pack for everybody and a trip to the store to get last-minute supplies was needed. “Jim Bob’s biggest phobia is running out of socks and underwear,” Michelle explained.
The crew then heads to the airport… a little late. “The main thing is just getting all of our kids on the plane with passports in hand, and if we forget a few things, we’ll pick them up along the way,” Jim Bob said. It takes them two hours to board, but eventually they get to their first destination — Edinburgh, Scotland!
First up, walking the Royal Mile to Edinburgh Castle. On the way, the family is shocked by a street performer swallowing a sword and eating fire.
The next day they go to the Highland Games, where they’re dubbed “The McDuggar Clan.” The Highland Games has lots of shenanigans: losing a giant tug-of-war contest, Jim Bob being forced to wear a kilt by a group of sword-wielding Scottish men (he still kept his jeans on underneath) and Michelle dressing as a traditional Scottish lass.
Now that they had conquered Scotland, the family heads to Ireland. Sightseeing in the land of green involved making Irish Soda Bread by hand at a farm, watching a sheepdog herd sheep, drinking straight from a cow and a pig riding contest. Just your typical Irish vacation.
Next week, the Duggars conquer England!
Have you been to Scotland or Ireland? What did you think of their trip?
