Dine with the celebs and feel like one too!
Izakaya restaurant, inside the Borgata Hotel, Casino & Spa in Atlantic City, proved to have a sensual elegance with definite hip and unexpected twists. The décor was sleek, dark wood with bursts of color and light. It was dark enough to allow me and my fellow dinners the opportunity to feel comfortable sitting back, absorbing the atmosphere, enjoying the food and conversation.
There’s so much amazing food at Izakaya, so try a sampling menu. Not to be missed are the edamane dumplings and small bites of perfection including sweet sake and truffles (these dumplings melt in your mouth like butter). My non-sushi loving boyfriend was won over by the king crab tacos. These are a playful fusion of Japanese and Tex-mex cuisine and simply scrumptious. The luscious crab meat with a slightly spicy sauce that played against the crunchy three bite shell was the perfect combo.
Once you’ve sampled your way down through the menu, be sure to keep going when you hit the desserts. The chocolate trilogy, including crème brulee, molten cake and white chocolate ice cream left this chocolate lover speechless. The molten cake rivals any that I’ve ever had.
Izakaya is part of the amazing nightlife scene available at the Borgota. People aren’t just coming to this Atlantic City destination just to play slots. The upscale dining options draw a celebrity crowd. Jessica Lowndes ate at Izakaya the same night that we were there, celebrating her 23rd birthday. This restaurant has definitely earned a place on my ‘Must Return to as Often as Possible’ list.
