He could have been killed, but Kate says it’s not an issue — she knew he was there!
Kate Gosselin picked up her eight kids from school Oct. 3, but she sat behind the wheel while they loaded into the car. Her seven-year-old son Collin decided to play — right behind the front wheel of the van! If the Kate Plus 8 star had moved the car even a little, she could have crushed him! Although the seven-year-old eventually made it into the car safely, according to RadarOnline.com, the child safety group KidsAndCars.org is shocked and alarmed at Kate’s lack of supervision.
“A minivan is a 3,000-pound lethal weapon and having children crawling around it is not prudent,” KidsAndCars.org president and founder Janette Fennell told the site. “She should have gotten out of the car to supervise them, especially when you have that many children. Kids tend to put themselves in harms way in an instant.”
Janette also said that motor vehicle accidents are the No. 1 killer of kids! 50 children are backed over by wheels every week, and at least two die. 1.5 children are killed every week by being driven over forwards in parking lots.
“You should never leave children unattended in or around motor vehicles,” she added. “Even if they are all capable of getting themselves into the van and getting buckled up, children at that age are unpredictable. She is blessed she didn’t run him over.”
Kate tweeted her response to the picture: “Re stupid article: it was on Tuesday&kind Collin offered w my permission2retrieve Hannah’s dropped h2o bottle. Typical tab tale; no facts!”
