Even though we think this whole Justin Bieber baby story seems like a crock of you know what, a lawyer tells us Justin has no real choice other than to take a paternity test. Yikes!
What a bummer for Justin Bieber! The 17-year-old superstar is under attack by a 20-year-old girl named Mariah Yeater, who claims the Biebs got her pregnant last year when they had unprotected sex in a bathroom during a concert at the Staples Center. And as outlandish as this sounds, Los Angeles attorney Jack Lentz tells HollywoodLife.com Justin doesn’t have many options when it comes to getting out of this nightmare — he’ll have to take a paternity test.
“Ultimately Justin Bieber can be forced to take a paternity test,” Lentz says, explaining, “He might want to give her a chunk of money and tell her to go away. He might settle with her whether he is the father or not — but if he does settle with her, most people will assume he is the father.”
Justin has vehemently denied the story, both on Twitter and through his reps, who told us, “It’s sad that someone would fabricate malicious, defamatory and demonstrably false claims. We will vigorously pursue all available legal remedies to defend and protect Justin against these allegations.”
If Justin is 100% positive he doesn’t have a mini Biebs running around out there, Lentz advises him to succumb to the paternity test, even though it seems unfair.
“I don’t see a way for him to end this speculation unless he takes a paternity test. He is in a jam. If he is innocent, I would advise him to take the test,” Lentz says. “However, if he thinks there is a possibility that he is the father, then he might want to settle with her privately.”
There is some good news for Justin. He won’t have to succumb to any paternity tests unless Mariah jumps through major hoops to get a court order…and that’s not an easy feat.
Los Angeles attorney Mychal Bilson explains to HollywoodLife.com, “In order to get a court order for a paternity test there has to be reasonable evidence presented to the court under oath. She would have to present details about her relationship with Justin Bieber, all under oath, such as providing dates of contact with Justin around the time of the conception.”
Many Beliebers think Mariah is full of it, however, she faces serious problems if she’s not telling the truth.
“If she is caught lying then the court can fine her with perjury, sometimes landing a person in jail for up to six months,” Bilson says.
