Welcome to the world, Danica! The United Nations declared Oct. 31 as Seven Billion day in honor of your birth!
Although it’s impossible to declare exactly who is the world’s newest record-breaking baby, little Danica May Camacho is being recognized by the UN as one of the world’s symbolic seven billionth occupant. And the world’s six billionth baby — born in 1999 — was there to celebrate the landmark event!
According to The Daily Mail, Danica was born in the Philippines — the 12th most populated country in the world — to parents Camille Dalura and Florante Camacho. It was hoped that she’d arrived right at midnight on Oct. 31, but she was born two minutes earlier at 5lbs 5oz. And she was welcomed with cheers and a media-packed celebration!
The Jose Fabella Memorial Hospital had a ceremony to welcome the newbie. United Nations officials were on hand to present her with a cake, and Danica received some of her first birthday gifts including a scholarship grant and a help for her parents to start a general store!
12-year-old Lorrize Mae Guevarra, the world’s symbolic six billionth baby and now a sixth grader, was there to witness. “I am very happy to see this cute baby,” she said. “I hope like me she will grow up to become healthy and well loved by everyone.”
Her mom is certainly excited. “She looks so lovely,” Camille said. “I can’t believe she is the world’s seventh billion.”
HollyMoms, can you believe the world population has gotten so large!?! Seven billion is A LOT of people!
