One stuntman died and another was seriously injured in an explosion on the set of Sylvester Stallone’s ‘The Expendables 2′.
The second unit stunt team was filming outside Sofia, Bulgaria on Oct. 27 when an explosion for the film’s bomb scene killed one and injured another.
Sylvester Stallone and rest of the cast and crew were filming on the main set, two and a half hours away.
Producers Nu Image/ Millenium Films confirmed the incident and released a statement: “It is with great regret that we confirm this unfortunate accident. Our hearts go out to the families and those on the production affected by this tragedy. The filmmakers are working closely with the authorities in responding to and investigating this accident.”
There is no word yet on whether or not producers will postpone production. The film is set to be released in the summer of 2012, and will star Jason Statham, Bruce Willis and Liam Hemsworth.
