Sister Wives Janelle, Christina & Meri Dig At Robyn – For Being Skinny!

Mon, October 24, 2011 12:02pm EDT by 24 Comments

The truth is finally coming out. Kody’s first three wives at over 200 lbs each, INSIST they AREN’T jealous of Robyn for her slimmer shape because Kody PREFERS CURVY women!

Poor Robyn! Even she is so besieged  in last night’s, Oct 23rd episode, that “Kody told me in a nice way at one point that he actually likes curvy girls and I’m not really a curvy girl so it’s not like I have an upper hand with this whole situation.”

In fact, Meri makes sure to tell us that “I don’t see Robyn as a threat to my relationship with Kody just because she’s a smaller person,” Meri insists. “I know that Kody loves me for me and Robyn for Robyn and it doesn’t have anything to do with our body size.”

Too bad she didn’t sound more convincing.

Then Christine pipes in, “People who would look at my body and who would look at Robyn’s body would probably think I would want her body or body shape but I don’t want to be too skinny.”

Whew! There goes another dig at the normal-sized Robyn who is managing to stay slim even with her baby bump.

It sure feels like the ladies are protesting too much.

Well, it’s great that Kody does like fuller figures because when Meri finally convinces her other sister wives to join her in the gym, we actually find out everyone’s weight.

Trainer Bill at the gym is unrelenting. He puts each wife on a scale, “I was mortified because I had never told anybody my weight including Kody,” admits Janelle, who is bravely first up for the weigh-in.

The news is not good. She weighs 271 lbs, forcing Janelle to tell us that “my physical appearance has always been my achilles heel. I know I’m smart, I know I’m a good employee, I’m good at everything else but my physical appearance has always been my achilles heel, so to have it blatantly broadcast was very disturbing!”

I bet Janelle! I applaud you for going public with your weight, especially when Trainer Bill lectures her saying that with a 44 BMI, she will be unhealthy AND unhappy AND won’t live as long as she wants if she doesn’t change her lifestyle!”

“You’re the one who needs this the most,” he intones to Janelle, who looks like she’s about to burst into tears. And I wouldn’t have blamed the mom of six if she did, even if Kody DOES prefer curvy women.

Christine meanwhile admitted that at 222 lbs, she actually wasn’t at her heaviest now. No, that was when she actually got married to Kody.

Meri, wasn’t too happy to report that at her current 214 lbs and size 14 body, she was well above HER size 10 figure at the time she married Kody.

Pregnant Robyn at 158 lbs, was still the smallest wife of all on the gym’s weight scales.

My only question to trainer Bill was  - is he actually getting these wives to do some cardio to burn off some calories because the show sure didn’t show that! The episode only revealed that they’re weight training but these ladies are going to get mighty discouraged if they don’t see some weight melting off and that will only happen if some cardio’s involved, Bill.

The episode actually began to feel like a Biggest Loser episode when Kody and the wives headed to an Asian buffet restaurant for dinner. All of a sudden the wives are worried about what to eat and are being tortured by the buffet.

But it also gives them an opportunity to dig at picky eater Robyn again.

“I remember one time saying to Kody — I wish I could eat whatever I wanted like Robyn can,” says Meri. And Kody says — “She can’t eat whatever she wants. She gets sick with a lot of stuff, she has to be careful.” Meri continues, “Part of me says I wish I had that problem because then my body would look ‘right’ but I like food so much, I’m glad I don’t have that problem.”

Christine — who doesn’t want to be as skinny as Robyn anyway — then gets her knife out too.

“I would rather enjoy food, every bite I eat. I’d rather savor that food,” insists Christine, instead of having to watch what she eats like Robyn.

Only Janelle is honest enough to admit “I would personally rather have Robyn’s problem and not have to worry about the prejudice and stereotype that came with being a larger person. That would be worth it.”

Oh, poor Janelle. I really felt for her and admired her honesty and appreciated that unlike her “sisters” she didn’t get in a back handed slap against skinny Robyn.

The episode wraps with Episcopal priest, Danielle Tummino, interviewing Kody and his wives to find out if they have the same beliefs as some of the fundamentalist Mormons who live in compounds.

Meri makes it clear, that they are NOT part of a cult. And Kody says the “cult” Mormons believe in arranged marriages and they don’t.

The family invites Danielle to a big family get-together welcoming back the five older Brown sons from a summer at their Uncle’s ranch in Wyoming. The smaller kids go nuts when they see their big bros again. It is SWEET.

Danielle Admits: “When these kids came running through the door, there was so much love in their home I think it makes it hard to cast negative judgment on them as a family. I don’t know if I can say that about all polygamous families, but I can say that about them.”

I have to agree with Danielle. I may not agree that polygamy is a wise or empowered choice for women but the 16 Brown children are remarkably sweet, loving, and close to each other, so I have to commend all Kody’s wives for that — no matter what their weight!

There have always been cults outside the social norms of it’s time. As long as the children are well cared for, who cares. Those women chose that way of life. We have the free love of the seventies and south American tribes that lived similar life styles. What I hate is the fact that these people use God to justify their polygamy and the government to pay for it. I wouldn’t have a problem if It was a cultural decision and they could legally pay for their lifestyle. I’m a hardworking taxpaying citizen that does not appreciate seeing my tax dollars at work. Do not glamorize a lifestyle that abuses the government to survive.

MERI, MERI, MERI!!! SIZE 14??? i am a size 14 and i don’t weigh ANYWHERE NEAR YOU!!! IF you lose about 50 lbs . . . you MIGHT be able to pull on a 14 if robyn sits on you and the other two help you pull up your pants (maybe janelle, the only one facing the truth) better do the sitting. you have all come within a few pounds of her (janelle) and all i see is each of you comparing yourself to robyn!!! GET A CLUE! YOU ARE NOT A SIZE 14!!!!

I’m not sure why weight is such a big deal fat otr thin if you are happy and its not harming your health them go for. Whar ever you want. To attack anothers weight is wrong. I think its cruel and unwise. Now I’m sure the move and money is a huge stress on them and its hurt dome of the kids. I imagine this is a big reason they feel unhappy and they are use to living in one home that also must be hard. They did choose the lifestyle and I’m sure they will all be ok and happy. I like all of them mostly meri and robyn.

I love watching this show. Congrats to them on the new baby and for having the courage to loose weight. My husband also loves curvy woman. So it’s hard yo even get motivated to loose weight. They also have each other for support. That makes it easier to want to be healthy. Good luck to all of them!!

JANELLE RADIATES INNER * OUTER BEAUTY. From what I’ve read on other sites; the sunny and practical yet secretly depressed Janelle is everyone’s favorite by a large majority with Meri a close second. Janelle worries so much about money its as though she’s taken up the burden of the male breadwinner since Kody’s a mental teenager (Christine’s a mental baby; “I don’t feel special anymore!” Foot Stomp!) Self-medicating with carbs can be the only acceptable way to distract a worrier in a culture that doesn’t allow other forms. Some religious women gain as they’re uncomfortable with their own sexuality. I hope she finds more personal happiness in exercise. Janelle has the most beautiful face and I suspect a bangin’ bod under there.
BTW… the three “legally” single moms all get food stamps and have all declared bankruptcy at least once. Robyn declared directly after she became “engaged” to Kody. What a coincidence! Nursing on the public mum seems more of a family tradition than their Claddagh rings.

There is no way Meri is a size 14 like she said. At her weight she must be at least a size 18 or more. I’m 185lbs, 5′ 3″ and I can not squeeze into a size 14 so there in no way Meri can. If she is going to be honest about her weight she should be honest about her size also.

In her defense, after I had my last child I was 205 and wore a size 14. There is alot more involved than just your weight in what size you wear, like your height and body style…. I was by no no means squeezing into my jeans.

The women’s weight problems just might have something to do with their lifestyles. Over-eating fills a void and since they basically have a “husband” who is cheating on them 3 nights a week this might explain things.AND I just can’t believe that they intended their weights to be broadcast – WHO does that! That segment should have been edited out. Yes, the kids do seem to really like each other – now. Just wait until some of them start to reject polygamy and are thrown out of the family.

There is no way that these women respect themselves.. If all were hunky dory, I would think maybe it isn’t so bad.
But it isn’t.. As Kody bounces from bed to bed.. These women are “working” on their jealousy, loneliness and feelings of insecurity..
What is “ok” about that? What is “good” about that?
It’s no different than a wife trying to deal with her husbands affairs..
While he enjoys the fun of it all. And each place is made fun for him.. Three other women are feeling lonely and insecure..
Maybe they should have revolving husbands too.. One to stand in when Kody is gone?
Why would that not be “fair”? Seems if it’s good for him , it should be good for them too..
“Everyone” have a nice time every night~!!

they may be jealous of robyn, but something about her bugs the bejesus out of me, i honestly think she wants cody all to herself..another thing..i think robyns kids are gonna be addressed next week….i don’t think it is fair to put them in that lifestyle and does anyone know if they see there dad, that would be so confusing to kids…is there real dad in their life?

it broke my heart to hear Janelle talk about her “appearance”. To say that it’s always been her nemesis. Does she have a weight issue? yes. But, in actuality, she is the prettiest of the four “wives”. And she looks in the mirror and can’t see it.
Except for her decision to “settle” for Cody, she is also, far and away, the most intelligent.

Christine is just a jealous person. She annoys me to no end. Then again, TLC is going to edit things to make them more interesting.

I wish we had seen the Episcopalian priest ask more questions about their faith… it could have cleared the air for a lot of people.

The person who wrote this article is extremely arrogant and is every bit as unattractive on the inside as he claims these ladies are on the outside. Of course, to someone like this writer, inner ugliness is preferrable to outter ugliness. Just remember, Writer, where there is internal ugliness, external is sure to follow…….

Dear Robyn l think that you are making a wrong decesion to choose your sister wife life against your children. You have to stand for your children against bullying from Kodys children. You are a good mother love should not make you blind my sister. Those teenagers should be ashamed of themselves, those children are still young they need there love and acceptance to the family. Kody should stand up as a man and a father in the family, he need to talk to his children and his three wives for them to talk to there children. ROBYN PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE MY SISTER STAND UP FOR YOUR CHILDREN they need you to fight for them.
