Antonio voices the adorable yet cheeky cat in the ‘Shrek’ films and finally he’s getting a film all of his own — but he didn’t expect this furry feline to become such a hit!
Antonio Banderas is blown away with the buzz surrounding his upcoming film Puss And Boots. HollyBaby.com spoke to the actor at the premiere of his psychological thriller The Skin I Live In hosted by The Cinema Society & DeLeón Tequila and he says the film about the sword fighting cat which hits theaters Oct. 28 is just as exciting for him as it is for you!
“I didn’t know [it would be such a success],” he told us. “I did Puss And Boots for the first time when I was on Broadway in 2003 and it was a recurring character at the time. I never thought that the character was going to be a star, but he is!”
His other film The Skin I Live In, directed by Pedro Almodovar, he plays a surgeon who kidnaps someone and does experiments on their skin … it’s pretty intense! But as for going from a horror-like film to an animated comedy, Antonio says it wasn’t hard to get into the mindset.
“I’m going from skin to fur — just like that!”
Check out Puss And Boots on Oct. 28 and The Skin I Live In in select theaters.
