Will and Kate don’t have a child yet, but the hierarchy rules are already being changed in case they have a daughter!

Currently, if Prince William and Kate Middleton have a son, he would inherit the throne — even if their first child is a daughter! Prime Minister David Cameron hopes to change this outdated rule, according to People magazine.

“We espouse gender equality in all other aspects of life, and it is an anomaly that in the rules relating to the highest public officer we continue to enshrine male superiority,” he wrote. Prime Minister David has other plans, too! He proposed lifting the ban that says anyone marrying a Catholic cannot succeed the throne, and he wants only the first six in line for succession to need permission to marry from the reigning queen or king.

Great news! It’s only fair that the oldest child inherits the throne, no matter his or her gender. And we can’t wait for the royal baby bump watch!

@Francis you are wrong there was no Elizabeth in Shakespherina time Elizabeth the 1st was Elizabeth the seconds mohter and Elizabeth II became queen when her fathers brother abdicated to marry American Divorcee Wallis Simpson. Technically William is second in line to the Throne Henry is third Prince Andrew is 4th princess Beatrice is 5th Pricess Eugenie is 6th Princess Anne Is 7th Peter Philips is 8th Zara Philips is 9th ED Wessex is 10th his children are 11th & 12th so William & Kates would be 13th. and I personally agree with the prime minister that the rule should be changed as a simillar one in Monarco

@courtney…
you have it all wrong… first off there was an Elizabeth I who WAS NOT Elizabeth II’s mother. Second… Edwards and his children are before Anne and her children in the line of succession because he is male so he comes before her. And third… when William and Kate have a baby he/she will be third in line to the throne not 13th… everyone else who is behind William in succession will be pushed back… How is William second in line of succession? Because his father is first, the children come right after there parents in the succession line.

I’m sorry, if I got this text right, you wrote that a daughter could’t get queen right know. That’s incredibly wrong. How do you think the queen got queen? Or how Elizabeth I. in Shakespeare’s time, got Queen.
England is different, there are Queens as well…

a woman can only be queen if there are no male heirs or if the male heir gives up his chance to rule….those are the breaks.

because there were no sons, they are talking about England in the article the rule has always been there that is not new and that’s why they want to change it
