On the anniversary of Matthew Shepard‘s untimely death, its a breath of fresh air that today marks a major step forward in the fight against bullying. be a STAR (beastaralliance.org) is an anti-bullying alliance co-founded by The Creative Coalition and WWE. Its mission is to ensure a positive and equitable social environment for everyone regardless of age, race, religion or sexual orientation through grassroots efforts beginning with education and awareness.
be a STAR, which stands for “Show Tolerance And Respect,” promotes positive methods of social interaction and encourage people to treat others as equals and with respect because everyone is a star in their own right.
“We’re proud to use the voice of the arts to champion what is good for society. And, there’s nothing good that bullies bring to society. Entertainment and the arts have a unique and powerful platform that The Creative Coalition and WWE are galvanizing to stand up to bullies,” said Robin Bronk, CEO of The Creative Coalition and co-founder of be a STAR. We couldn’t have said it better ourselves!
So HollywoodLifers, its time to do your part. It’s time to move forward from a world of bullying into a world of tolerance. Its a simple thing that will only make everyone involved benefit. Be A Star!
