Dan also tells HollywoodLife.com where Amanda, who was declared innocent on Oct. 3 by an Italian court, should give her first interview!
Amanda Knox definitely has her pick of who she can sit down with for her first-ever interview. The 24-year-old Seattle native was freed Monday after spending 1,400 days behind bars for allegedly killed her roommate Meredith Kercher. But after the court overturned her original guilty verdict — the race to interview Amanda began.
HollywoodLife.com spoke with Dan Rather, who hosted CBS Evening News for 24 years at the NYC premiere of George Clooney‘s new political thriller Ides of March and he told us exactly who Amanda should sit down with first.
“I think Oprah would be the best place,” Dan told us. “But she doesn’t need my advice and money may ultimately decide that.”
Amanda was declared innocent for the 2007 killing and also cleared was her ex-boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito. Immediately after the verdict, HLN’s Nancy Grace openly slammed the ruling, calling it a “miscarriage of justice.”
“Far be it for me to get into an argument with Nancy Grace. One,” Dan tells us. “I was surprised that she won her appeal. I’m very happy for her and her family and I also have in mind the family of the victim. What we can say is at the first trial she was found guilty but the appeal decided it the other way and God bless her and I hope she goes on to have a great life.”
Not only does Amanda stand to make big bucks for her first interview, it’s been speculated that the memoirs she wrote in prison could go for top dollar as well. And don’t forget what she could make on adaptations of her life for the big screen!
