UPDATE: Selena and Justin take a romantic helicopter ride around Rio together! See all of the new pics plus watch video of Justin’s special message to his fans!

Selena Gomez encountered some trouble when trying to get into Brazil yesterday, but the federal police helped her out and she was able to join Justin Bieber for his week in the country. They even left on a helicopter ride around Rio de Janeiro this morning for a sightseeing tour!

Selena hadn’t acquired her Brazilian visa when she attempted to fly into the country. Brazil has strict reciprocity laws that require US citizens to undergo the same process Brazilian citizens have to go through to visit the US. Selena arrived in Brazil without a visa at all, but was given an eight day “conditional landing” entry.

A report from EGO/Globo.com claims Justin was grumpy when he passed through immigration in Brazil, and was greeted by a crowd of people when he landed, some of whom booed when he walked by with his head covered. Justin has concerts in Rio on October 5 and 6, in Sao Paolo on Oct. 8 and 9 and one in Porto Alegre on Oct. 10.

A large crowd of Justin’s fans waited for him outside of the Copacabana Palace, singing his songs, including “Baby” and “One Time.” They even sang “Love You Like A Love Song” in honor of his girlfriend Selena. Although some of them slept their overnight to wait for him, Justin was tired and reportedly entered through the back door of his hotel. But he did give his Brazil fans a special video message! Update: This morning Justin and Selena were overwhelmed by fans when they left their hotel. EGO reports it was chaotic when the couple left and his fans even swarmed the three cars holding Justin’s entourage! The news report claims Justin looked a little scared, but he joked on Twitter that his bodyguard Kenny Hamilton‘s shirt was almost ripped off in the commotion. They headed to a helicopter and left for a scenic tour around the city of Rio. The helicopter takes them to the beaches of Leblon, Ipanema and Copacabana, goes around the Sugar Loaf, crosses the bay to nearby city Niteroi and the city’s Icarai beach. They’ll also visit Sambodromo where Carnivale is held and fly around the giant statue of Jesus Christ. The tour costs approximately $287 a person in US dollars. Sounds amazing!
