HollywoodLife.com caught up with ‘Basketball Wives: LA’ star Gloria Govan, who told us her relationship drama is going to play a big role in upcoming episodes. Are YOU nervous to see what happens?
Gloria Govan seems to have it all: a hot fiance — Los Angeles Lakers star Matt Barnes, a great figure, adorable twin sons — Isaiah and Carter AND a hit TV show. However, the outgoing reality star tells HollywoodLife.com things with her relationship aren’t as flawless as they may seem — and those issues are going to be a featured story line in upcoming episodes of Basketball Wives: LA.
The conversation began when we asked Gloria how she manages groupies in Los Angeles… and she said it’s not easy.
“A lot of people assume my relationship is perfect, although I don’t ever recall [claiming it is],” she said, explaining, “You get a great 3D view of our relationship this season. You’ll see us going to therapy. I think a lot of people will be surprised and confused, but that’s where our relationship was.”
We also caught up with Gloria’s sister, Laura Govan, who said the rest of the first season is going to be mind-blowing.
“You’re going to get surprised,” she said, echoing her sister’s thoughts. “It’s almost like a Lifetime movie. You’re going to be like, ‘What the hell?’ You’re going to be like, ‘Laura’s so shady.’ You’ll go through a couple weeks when you think everyone’s crazy. Then its all going to come full circle.”
A big portion of the show thus far has been dedicated to the girls clashing with Draya and both sisters say those scenes weren’t exaggerated — they actually don’t mesh well with the young model.
“I kind of feel like with Draya it’s sleeping with the enemy,” Gloria admitted. “I feel like she has potential to be a really cool person, if she got her priorities straight. She’s not someone I would call to go to lunch, but I don’t want to body slam her.”
As far as second season of the spin-off is concerned, nothing has been set in stone — and not both Govan girls are convinced they want to be apart of it again.
“I wasn’t on this show to be famous,” Laura said. “I wasn’t trying to win an Oscar. I’m not sure if I’d do a second season if asked.”
She added, “I do want to get some key things out — like, we run foundations. We do things for shelters. Besides all the drama, there are a lot of things we do do as women.”
That said, Gloria said she’s game to go for round two. “I hope we get offered another season,” she said. “I would jump on the opportunity.”
