After her Italian murder conviction was overturned, Amanda returns to American soil. We bet she’s thrilled.
The US can finally stop asking the question, “When is Amanda Knox coming home?” She has returned to Seattle after serving four years in an Italian prison for a crime she didn’t commit! She gave a very emotional statement at a press conference after she landed.
Amanda took the podium at the airport today saying “They’re reminding me to speak English because I’m having problems with that,” before beginning to cry. “I’m really overwhelmed right now,” she said. “I was looking down from the airplane, and it seemed like everything wasn’t real.”
“What’s important for me to say is thank you, to everyone who has believed in me, who has defended me, who has supported my family. My family’s the most important thing to me right now, and I just want to go be with them right now. Thank you for being there with me.” She held her mother’s hand when she sat down at her seat and her lawyer asked the press to give Amanda and her family “peace” and “time”.
In 2007, Amanda was convicted in the murder of her roommate Meredith Kercher. But after appealing her 25-year-sentence, she was set free on Oct. 3. Her British Airways flight arrived at Sea-Tac Airport shortly after 5 p.m. PST Oct. 4.
She was given a warm welcome by the press, her community and her family.
