Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart’s ‘Twilight’ costar Anna Kendrick confessed she feels ‘fortunate’ not to have to ‘deal’ with the fame Rob and Kristen experience daily. Do you see her point or do you think she’s exaggerating?
There are a lot of perks to the huge success of Twilight, but to Anna Kendrick, being in the spotlight is not one of them. “After we shot the first Twilight, we organized our own wrap party. We really didn’t know what this was going to be,” she revealed. “Something like that can come at you unexpectedly, and you just have to try your best to deal with it.”
Anna, in her interview with EW, admitted she gives kudos to Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart for being able to manage the immense amount of attention that is given to them. “More power to the people who deal with that kind of stuff and still say sane,” she acknowledged.
Not only does she dislike fame, she thinks of it as a prison! “I feel really, really, genuinely fortunate not to have to deal with that right now. It’s like a prison. It’s a really nice prison, but so what? You still can’t leave your home. I feel happy that that’s not my reality right now.”
Kristen once likened the paparazzi following her to rape, which caused a lot of backlash. Do you think that Anna is right to say fame is like a prison, albeit a “nice” one?

Well, Anna was there so she should know, right?
I think in many ways it would be like a prison. You can’t leave your home without someone wanting a piece of you, and who wants to be “on” all the time? Sometimes you want to be alone, or just with your friends, or maybe you’re in a bad mood and just don’t have the capacity to deal with things at the moment, then the next thing you know your written up as being this or that. You are constantly being scrutinized and I would hate that. I would be very paranoid about everything.
On the other hand, what an amazing career! You get to work with other creative people, and you get to meet, well, everyone – actors and musicians- you get to go to free concerts and travel all over the world – except, of course, you can’t leave you’re hotel room. . . which negates the point of travelling.
I hope for Rob & Kristen that after the Twilight films are shown and done then things will settle down and they can just be. Sure there will always be paparazzi and fans, but not to this degree. But I don’t agree with the argument – oh, they asked for it, they’re famous, etc. Maybe some, like Paris Hilton, would love this, but most wouldn’t. And I do think there should be laws in place for paparazzi – how are they any different than stalkers? You’re not allowed to do that; why is this allowed?
