Russ Says: 'The Twilight Saga' Is This Century's 'Star Wars!'

Twilight Saga Star Wars

From werewolves to wookies, there are a ton of similarities between Team Edward and Team Vader!

When I think of the Star Wars franchise, my imagination is taken to a place that few films can ever even wish to get near — and I see the very same thing happening when it comes to Twilight. This is both a good thing and a bad thing…so let me explain. More than 30 years have past since the first Star Wars film premiered and people continue to talk about the film as if it came out yesterday. The series is beyond legendary and has a following like none other, but they are not a guarantee for superstardom for the main players in the cast.

For every Harrison Ford there is a Mark Hamill. And I think 30 years from now the saying will go, for every Robert Pattinson there is a Taylor Lautner. Harrison Ford — who played Han Solo in the Star Wars films — parlayed his talents into films the likes of Indiana Jones, Blade Runner, The Fugitive and Patriot Games, to name a few. Robert Pattinson is easily going down that same route of choosing interesting projects like Water For Elephants and Cosmopolis to test his acting chops. Once he takes a few more risks in the action field and in comedy, he will have shown his diverseness and proven he is here to stay.

But as we can see with the recent release of Abduction and its critical backlash and current worldwide box office total of $17 million, Taylor’s chances of becoming a superstar are a far cry from the Tom Cruise comparisons he has been getting the last few weeks. Just like Mark Hamill faded into the background, I predict the same thing will happen to Taylor.

So where does that leave Kristen Stewart? That answer is easy…she’s just like Carrie Fisher.

Carrie Fisher played Princess Leia, who is the original Bella, the girl everyone wants and everyone loves. Plus, just like R-Patz has won K-Stew’s heart in real life, Harrison Ford’s character won Carrie Fisher’s character’s heart in the Star Wars films. Carrie Fisher appeared in critically favored films and even has become an established writer. Unfortunately, Carrie also has had substance abuse issues that derailed her career for some time, so we can only hope Kristen Stewart and her cigarette and marijuana enjoyments don’t cause any problems.

Also, it looks like K-Stew, who is next appearing in Snow White & The Huntsman, may take her sexy steel suit worn in the film into the same stratosphere as the metal bikini once worn by Princess Leia and turn it into very successful leading lady roles in the future.

When it comes to the Twilight versus Star Wars comparison, both of these films will be remembered for the good and the bad and the actors will be around forever in various spectrums of stardom. However, I think we can definitely turn to Star Wars history is we’re curious where Twilight will end up in the future.

So HollywoodLifers, do YOU think The Twilight Saga holds a lightsaber to the Star Wars franchise or are my thoughts in a galaxy far, far away? Sound off below!

You’re asking a white riot, man. Goerge Lucas killed Starwars, but even Jar-Jar Binks can beat twilight.
Vader, Han Solo, Leiah in slave costume-bikini, Luke, the Emperor. There are levels to compare.
Only C3pio qualifies as a match for the vampi-backstreet boys.

comparism between twilight and star war is totally inaccurate..i also disagree on his analysis of jacob in twilight.infact am more in line with those who compares jacob with tom cruise style.if he chooses fantasy,sci-fic and action /thriller,he does not need oscar to have his fame.that is what is worrying me about rob.he need to be more versatile to be recond with.he does not have to depend on oscar movies.his work will let them see what he is made of.

I’m getting sickof hearing about twilight. The books are pretty good. (no comparison to Harry potter in my opinion though) but the movies are barely average. The first twilight movie was terrible. I can’t stress enough how bad the acting was. The only thing that carries this franchise is the fact that the books are decent and because girls love love stories mixed with Hott guys. But yea there’s no comparison. Twilight really isn’t all that good and I really cnt wait for the last two movie to be done with soo we can all move on with our lives.

Neither Harry Potter nor Star Wars was called “The New” anything when they came out, because they were their own success and forged their own uniqueness. Twilight must constantly compare itself to other movies in order to find its niche and define itself.
How about this. Twilight is “The New” nothing. Apt, I say.

Nice article, good comparisons. People shouldn’t be upset at Kristen being compared to Carrie Fisher! She’s a smart, very talented and respected woman.

I think Abduction proved Taylor is the Mark Hamill of the group, except Hamill had more talent.

Kristen is nothing like Carrie Fisher. She will have a stellar, if not box-office smashing, career because she will choose projects that are meaningful to her.

we don’t know exactly, there are about 90 years left of the 21st century. our world is more & more modern, who knows what will happen in the next 90 years? anyway, the content of twilight doesn’t sound good. i think it must be Avatar or Harry Potter

I agree with you… Twilight is unique dark love story… It is a Vampire Saga that has fans in the millions both young and old. Those who love The Twilight Saga will never forget it. Those who hate theTwilight Saga…. I love both Star Wars and Twilight :-) and I will never forget them.

What the hell? Was someone smoking the weed while they came up with this? Seriously, just reading the headline made me throw up a little in my mouth. Wait, is this an early April fools joke?

The Back to the Future trilogy was popular as the Twilight saga, only there were no vampires involved, just teenagers and bullies from every generation. Back to the Future is one of my favorite teen movies!

Holy crap, twilight does not deserve to be in the same sentence as star wars unless its “twilight is total crap compared to star wars”. 10 years everybody forgets twilight.

That’s just…. Not true. I suppose you could argue that Avatar is the Star Wars of our time, or that it will be if they manage a sequel or two. Twilight, on the other hand, appeals to one generation and one generation only. Tweeners. Plus, Twilight and Harry Potter are pretty much neck and neck, so. Might as well just argue that Harry Potter is also Star Wars of this generation, which would be an equally stupid argument to make.

And how exactly will Twilight win? Star Wars has got more expansion aside from the movies. We have comic books, novels, games, and even 2D and 3D cartoons. While Twilight has nothing but crappy books and movies.
