I have to agree with Hollie there. We can not judge someones other beliefs. We are all sinners in one way or another no matter how hard we try not to be. that life style is not for me, and i dont even wanna think about sharing my husband with another person. he would be gone if that ever came up, regurdless of the 7 years that we have been together. But that being said, i love the browns minus Robyn. I dont like her at all, but i do love the show all n over!!

Who are any of you to judge? What they do is between them and God. You can find traces of polygamy through out the bible (old and new testament) and even in some of the book of Mormon, however the “Mormon’s” follow the law of the land they are in and no longer practice polygamy. Just because someone doesn’t believe the same way you do doesn’t mean you should judge them.

As a piece of info…

They have all declared bankruptcy:

1997~ Janelle
2005~ Kody & Meri
2010~ Christine
2011~ Robyn (in Mexico, harder to track)

They are not financially secure, but still more babies on the way!

Kody Brown is a selfish child-man. He’s in it for the glory and money. It went to his childish head, and now he’s causing his families misery. If a woman was doing what he is she’d be called a whore. I guess this makes him a man-whore. No-one really cares what happens between consenting adults, but when you bring children in, that’s not ok. Really, how much “dad” time do 15 kids get? Maybe if he had the dad time with his kids, he wouldn’t have made such rash decisions. The families are a train wreck, and the adults are to blame.

Is this life or death? No then leave them a lone. If God isn’t happy about it then they’ll deal with it in heaven with God. I personally don’t have a problem and people who have a problem with this, it’s your own insecurities and afraid of people who are different and if you’re so called christians like to hide behind the bible but has forgotten what the bible says….plural marriage was done in the bible… a women’s husband would die and then his brother is suppose to take in his sister in law as wife…God said so…There’s also a story about daughters getting their father drunk to have sex in the name of GOD…something isn’t right? so lay off and leave them a lone. I enjoy seeing different people and if their happy so be it. Who are we to judge…

he’s a perv and a moron. IDC what anyone thinks of how I think. To do this to women, as well as to the kids is wrong and abusive. the kids are stigmatized, the women have to share one man? WTH? what if they want another husband? What a damned mess these people are, and I hate the channel that promotes this mess. as for the one wife saying “We’re killing ourselves to live this life, live this faith — why are we leading our children to another faith, she worries.” WTF? You WANT your kids to be like you? OMG NO! we have ENOUGH screwed u0p people in the world without adding MORE to it! Let them make their OWN choices, and I hope to god they don’t choose your sick twisted lifestyle.

Wow, aside from the drama, controversies and impending new infant this series seems eager to showcase, I must say this article was terribly written. Poor grammar is to be expected in certain avenues but even fluff journalism should adhere to the basic tenants of rudimentary English.

How is polygamy creating a trashy world? There are certain things that a society must judge and regulate, but why does anyone care how many women this man has sex with? Why does anyone care who anyone else has sex with? If you are morally opposed to this, then that is your prerogative. A truly free country would also let these people make that decision as well. Unless innocent people are being harmed, the government has no place in the matter.

Also the teenagers on the show are TEENAGERS. Jeez, who wasn’t depressed as a teenager? Especially when they were uprooted from a very sheltered, conservative culture and are now exposed to the insanely different culture of Vegas! They are dealing with very difficult issues that are typical of any family in their situation. Those problems are not caused by polygamy. In fact, if our country allowed them to cohabitate (officially unmarried, not bothering anyone) then they wouldn’t have had to move to begin with. And people have the right to raise their children in any belief system they wish, there is no emotional or physical abuse going on. Those children seem more stable than countless kids that have been raised in Christian homes. I don’t understand polygamy myself, and I could never imagine sharing my boyfriend but I have the clarity of mind to understand that my feelings have NOTHING to do with it. It is not my belief system, and not my life… how does this hurt society? It’s their lives and sex lives, and nobodies business but theirs.

And how does anyone know they get welfare? They said they are drawing money from their retirement accounts and probably have savings from Kody’s big advertisement job. They never said anything about welfare.

The is so wrong. The bible says that a man will take his WIFE!! and they shall become one. Not that he can take as many as he wants and live off the government. This is nasty and repulsive in so many ways. There is no way i would share my hubby at all!! i think they should go to jail cuz this is illegal and morally wrong. They dont deserve these kids.

Wait…you might want to rethink about what the bible says because it also states that if a woman’s husband dies then his brother must take her as his wife. There’s plural marriages in the bible. There’s also daughters getting their father drunk and then having sex all in the name of god…read the old testament you’ll find it there.

what you said is true but it doesn’t mean that that was God’s perfect plan, He allowed humans to do it, warning beforehand in genesis that a man and a woman should form a family, but since we think we know better we keep pushing liberties and finding new ways to have happy relationships that ultimately only cause more troubles, like in this case we find envy, jelousy, among so many other things. Also, the purpose in the beginning was for Abraham’s descendants to multiply, totally different dispensation.

I thought only Kody and Meri were legally married. The others had a comittment ceremony. How could this not be legal? If he was married only once there is no polygamy.

Melissa, Actually, people should be judged. Everyone seems to think judging someone is wrong. It’s not wrong. Since everyone began with that “do not judge” attitude, there are no longer rights or wrongs. There needs to be rules or society suffers, ad it is suffering now. It’s NOT all right for people to do whatever they want. Judging and rules create civility. All you have to do is look around: people are uncaring and mean, and they say and do whatever they feel like. This has created a trashy acting, rude world, where everyone justifies it by saying they are “being real”.

At least there’s more honesty in this episode. If this isn’t an indication of the the necessity of repression and denial of true emotions and feelings for women in polygamist relationships, I don’t know what is!
“A baby is a physical manifestation that there is an intimate relationship between a husband and one of his sister wives,” explains Robyn. “In a plural family, a sister wife will often put the idea of her husband having an intimate relationship with another wife, completely out of her head. So when she’s told her sister wife is pregnant, she can’t put it out of her head anymore.” Well- said Robyn, a piece of the truth at last. And I agree with you, you are “killing yourselves” to live this way!

this lifestyle is not for me, however it is fascinating to see how others live. This religion is not hurting anyone how the Brown live it and I always thought that our country was founded on certain principals, freedom of religion being one of them. For all those who condemn this family, i condemn you for not letting this family (who is self sufficient and consists of adult relationships) live in peace.

“This religion is not hurting anyone? Consists of adult relationships”????? Are you kidding me! There are 17 children involved…. The little ones seems to be fine but they DO GROW UP. Their teens are really suffering and I was horrified by the show. It’s hard enough to grow up today with such intense peer pressure but to put this additional burden on these young teens is outrageously selfish. They are not sheltered at all from the snide remarks their parents freakish lifestyle must produce at school. I can only imagine what are forced to endure at a public school. The one young teen boy’s depressed behavior is very alarming. He was not playing for the camera, this child is suffering. Teens feel isolated in general when they are the least bit different. One can only imagine the level of depression and isolation this poor young man/boy is being expected to handle. It is wrong! Teen suicide is a tragic reality. Every effort should be made by the parents and the community at large to protect, nurture and mentor the sensitive teen. This family, by choosing to go public, move to another city, change schools, live with TV cameras, and flaunt their unconventional lifestyle has stripped away every shred of a support system these developing young teens had. It’s wrong, it’s tragic, and it’s watching train wreck in slow motion. I can only hope social services takes notice and steps in before it’s too late.

What is the difference between this reality show and any other out there? These kids are not being hurt by the cameras and the parents are all smart enough to stop if they thought they were. The teenagers are going through what all teenagers go through when they have to move from school to another..I moved in 8th grade and I was sick over it for months. You must remember how it was being a teenager. These kids are better behaved in this home style then kids I see today. These kids today are running wild like Kates for instance. She has no control over her brats. This life style isn’t for me either, but it is interesting to watch something different and see that it works. I like Janelle, Meri and Christine more and more. They could be my friends. I don’t care for Robyn, I don’t think she is sincere and maybe she has gotten in all of this for other reasons. I don’t see her lasting in this. She don’t give me the warm fuzzy feeling the other girls too. All you bible huggers out there, get a grip..Your life style fits and works for you..so keep it. Stop judging and condemning people who live lifes that don’t conform to your rules and believes. You don’t know that you are right, you just believe you are..Let people believe what they want to believe as these people aren’t hurting anyone. If anything they are educating people to see that this life style is not really what we thought it was like and we need to respect them as they respect us.

Why does no reporter ever ask these multiple wives (in reality, concubines in Kody’s harem)if they are covered by Kody’s health insurance, vision and dental insurance, life insurance, pensions and tax benefits, etc? Insurance companies will only cover the legal wife and her children, the concubines and their children are on their own and face poverty should they have a serious health crisis. Unless Kody coughs up big bucks for them, they’ll have to pay for coverage for themselves and their children. Why does no reporter ever ask if this group realize their lifestyle is teaching their children that husbands can have multiple sex partners, and sex every night, while wives have to share one partner, and have to line up and await their turn? Don’t these silly women and this self-centred man realize they are teaching their children the ancient, cruel double standard? Shame on them! As for Kody — what a Mama’s boy he is. I guess that all those women fighting for his attention, and sharing the housework between them, means he never has to wash a dish or change a stinky diaper. So much for the equality of the sexes! Polygamy comes from the dark ages when women had no rights and were considered chattels to be used by men. It is condoned in the Old Testament, which is a Jewish book filled with violence and repression of others, not by the New Testament, which is a Christian book based on “Love thy neighbour as thyself.” Polygamy is condemned by St. Paul, who wrote that a “Bishop must have but one wife,” so neither Kody nor his harem are Christians. (Check your concordance, Kody!) I guess that makes them pagans. This little boy grown tall should try growing up, even though he’s bound to find that concept very uncomfortable. He and his passive, enabling harem should remember that the year is 2011 AD, not 2011 BC, and women now have equality and don’t have to kowtow to some selfish man eager to indulge in a sex fest ….. for him, not for the women.

I hardly see these women “kowtowing” to their husband, nor do I see their arrangement as a “sex fest”.

I’d never consider polygamy but who cares if these women do – it’s their lives. If you’re going to criticize the family at least base your judgments on them and not some highly-generalized idea of polygamy.

I completely agree with you. I keep posting it, but it’s never shown, that in this society, no one thinks anything bad about anything anyone does anymore. No one thinks anything of people living together WITHOUT marriage, giving birth to children out of wedlock, cheating while married or getting divorced. As far as I can see, this family is doing exactly what everyone else in the world is doing, although they claim it is part of their religion. Most married men have affairs and stay with their mistresses at the mistress’s home. They have children with their mistress, and sometimes cheat on their wives more than once with more than one woman and have children with them, too. I personally do not like what the Browns are doing, nor do I condone what society thinks is okay. I do not think any of this stuff is morally correct, but SOCIETY THINKS IT IS. There used to be a not very nice name for kids born out of marriage, but not anymore. Everyone has that “everyone should do whatever makes them happy” attitude, so no one thinks ANYTHING ANYONE DOES IS WRONG anymore. So someone, please, please explain to me just exactly what this family is doing that is so different than what EVERYONE ELSE DOES. All they are doing is talking about it and pretending they are married. I do not understand why anyone thinks what they are doing is any different than the rest of this country!!!!

I love it. You explained it so good. Women now days have rights and can express thier own oppinion. I believe the first wife (MERI) is the woman shopper for her husband. She must get wet thinking about her old man screwing the others. I don’t put it past them to have a foursome. Just because they act like they can’t to into one anothers bedrooms because it is so private between the woman that lives there and the man they all screw.
