Man Vows To Live On His Wife's Breast Milk! Sweet Or Totally Insane?

Fri, September 23, 2011 2:03pm EDT by 9 Comments

A man in Indiana does not want his wife’s excess of frozen breast milk to go to waste — so he has decided to live off of her supply without any other food!

Curtis, a blogger father of three, has chosen to live off breast milk supplied by his wife, Katie! Really?

Katie pumped at a rapid rate after the birth of her premature baby nine months ago, resulting in an excess of breast milk.

The couple attempted to donate the stock to a milk bank, but they were prevented by restricting regulations and shipping fees.

Curtis is planning to live solely off his wife’s breast milk without food or other drink and detail his results on a blog entitled Don’t Have a Cow, Man. His ultimate goal is to see how long he can go without any other source of food.

The couple is receiving a lot of backlash from advocates of breast milk donations who believe they should try harder to donate the milk to babies in need instead of keeping it for their own use.

What do you think of this guy, HollyMoms? Is he absolutely crazy?

i think he is insane. The breast milk advocates are insane also. What is with the obsessive fascinoation with breast milk? It is not a magic elixir.

Looks like he took down the blog. Too bad, I really wanted to read and see if he would last for more than a few days.

@Jess I couldn’t agree with you more our society looks at mothers who breastfeed their babies as second class citizens though at least now a days actresses that choose to nurse their children can’t be fired from their job for it as was the case 30 years ago before Lynn Redgrave won her lawsuit against CBS for firing her from one of their shows in 1970 for exactly that reason after a nosey co-stars complaint that she was nursing her infant daughter Kelly in her dressing room though this guy is taking it a bit far

So people are angry that the couple isn’t trying harder to donate the breast milk and think its wrong that they have the nerve to keep it? Sounds a bit stupid to me. It came from her body, and its her milk to do with as she pleases. If her husband wants to do this them good for him. Maybe it will get people to realize breast milk shouldn’t be ignored and treated like a dirty thing. Its natural and our society sees something that is beautiful and turns it into a shameful thing.

There is no way this woman has enough frozen breast milk to provide enough calories to keep a grown man alive for a year. I think he needs to do some research.

This may be a stupid question, but what does breast milk taste like?

Kind of like sweet skim milk. Almost like milk that’s left over after eating a bowl of sugary cereal. Not that I’ve drank it before, but I breastfed and my milk has gone a little crazy during let down before and made its way into my mouth, lol.

I appreciate that he doesn’t want his wife’s breast milk to just be thrown away and wasted. BUT, he needs to definitely consult his primary care physician about this only-breast-milk diet before actually going on it.

As a complete and total lay person, with little to no medical knowledge, I wouldn’t think that breast milk and breast milk ONLY would provide enough nutrition (calories, fat, vitamins, etc.) for a grown, adult person to survive on. That’s why kids eventually graduate to solid food.

If he were to use the breast milk as an alternative to cow’s milk, i.e. in his cereal, oatmeal, a glass with some cookies, in his pudding and so on and so forth, I wouldn’t hesitate to support him.

Most importantly, I ABSOLUTELY DO NOT think it is gross for an adult human to drink human milk. Humans are the ONLY species in existence that drinks the milk of other animals instead of their own.

Also, if the milk banks are whining and crying about the breast milk not being donated to milk banks, why don’t THEY work with this couple so that it would be easier for them to do so because as they said, they did try.

I’M TEAM BREAST MILK!!!
