Russ Says: When It Comes To The New 'Two and a Half Men,' Ashton Kutcher Is Winning!

Charlie Sheen has mentioned Ashton Kutcher is ‘going to do great’ on ‘Two and a Half Men.’ And I’m thrilled to report after watching the show’s season premiere, Ashton IS great and is the perfect Charlie replacement!

Much talk has been been given on Charlie Harper’s ultimate demise on Two and a Half Men and I was nervous to see how producers were going to handle Charlie Sheen‘s sudden disappearance in the season premiere. However, they pulled it off without a hitch!

The opening of the show is Charlie’s funeral, where his death is explained hilariously by Rose, who is played by Melanie Lynskey. Apparently Charlie fell in front of a train in Paris and exploded like  “a balloon full of meat.” Gross! We also find out that Rose may or may not be responsible for Charlie’s death, which makes things sound morbid but it is played for laughs and for the most part, it delivers.

What is surprising is how the show doesn’t actually take off until Ashton Kutcher‘s character, Walden Schmidt, an Internet billionaire who is miserable after the divorce with his wife, makes his grand entrance on the show.

Alan Harper (Jon Cryer) receives Charlie’s ashes and then spills them all over the floor when he is startled by Ashton’s character’s first appearance on the show. Ashton is wet from attempting suicide in the Malibu ocean. He is distraught over the divorce of his ex-wife. Alan invites Walden into his house and allows him to call his ex-wife. From there, he finds out he is a billionaire and instantly starts to become his friend.

What was genuinely great about the transition is that it was so seamless. Plus, Ashton’s chemistry with the rest of the cast is uncanny, especially with Jon, who really makes things work to perfection.

So HollywoodLifers, what did YOU think of tonight’s season premiere of Two and a Half Men with Ashton Kutcher? Did you miss Charlie Sheen? Sound off below!

Stop watching after 2 minutes, the funeral just made me cringe that much. Lame attempt to make Charlie look bad, wtf with all the hot chicks at the funeral and barely any dudes, stupid. Was a shocker

Oh wow are they hurting..Whats up with all the nude scenes, must have new writers that REALLY like Ashton. The chemistry just isn’t there. Ashton’s character is too juvenile and the whining how much he loves his wife is getting tired.

Ratings are falling faster than the stock market..Lorre, guess the jokes on you

I have been a huge fan of this series, until this season. I started watching the old re-runs again and this series does not hold a candle to those with Charlie in them. I watched the first show this season and thought there is no way it can be this bad, so I watched a second one, and realize it really is that bad. I kept waiting for Ashton to jump in front of the camera and let everyone know, including the audience, that we all jsut got punked.

BRING BACK CHARLIE!

And get a refund from Ashton.

This show was on its last legs awhile ago. The jokes became repetitive and predictable. Sitcoms do have life spans and it is futile to keep this one alive. Ashton is definitely not the answer. It’s time for something completely different.

The new show should be named Two Boys and Half Men.
While Charlie made the show funny in the way people can enjoy it and believe that could happen in real life, AK is just another boy joins in to make people laugh and make the show is “only the show”. Two and half men now become less reality and also not as deep as it was with Charlie Sheen.
I quite enjoy John Cryer more than him though.
Like AK in other movie, but here, he cannot postrait his role too well .

The show should be called “Two men”.

Jon Cryer is one (sad) man and Kutcher and Angus are the other one (at half man each).

Even in the title song Kutcher had no other option (apparently) but to take the child voice role…

It’s sad to see the cheap shots Lorre tried to take on “Charlie Harper” with the STD jokes during the funeral, the “exploding bag of meat” comment, the ashes being thrown to the floor. He should be more worried about the show than about spite, but, hey, if you are not an a22hole, then what are you doing directing a TV comedy?

RUSS WEAKLAND, you must be scared of the producers or your sense of humor is that of a 12 year old

I saw the new show last night and I will not watch it again. The new boy on the block cant hold a candle to Charlie. Without Charlie there is no show. Wish there was a way to bring Charlie back. Even the house keeper isn’t as good with the new guy.

I don’t know what kind of a man Charlie Sheen is in his personal life, and quite frankly, I don’t care. But Two and a half men was one of my favorite shows….Charlie Sheen was brilliant in his character and I think it’s going to take a very special actor to replace him. Ashton is nothing like Charlie’s character. I have watched all of the new eposodes and the only laughs I have gotten were from Berda. I am really disappointed in the loss of the show. The show that is now on in its place (what’s the name of it?) doesn’t hold a candle to the Two and a half men I have grown to love.

Really, bring Charlie back. People need a good laugh at the end of the day. After I watched the premiere I was ready to cry – so disappointing.

Ashton Kutcher was great when he played on the 70s show simply because he played the idiot that he really is, most of his movies flopped including his show punked, two an half men is doomed to be a major flop with him on it also.

Bring Charlie BACK!!!!

I watch repeats of two and a half men because of Charlie. I love the rest of the cast. No offense Ashton but Sheen made the show. Wish they could bring him back and there is. It is what it is but Charlie is the better actor. I believe without him ratings will drop in time. Love u Charlie.
