The actor walked away with the Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for his role as Tyrion Lannister in ‘Game of Thrones’!
Were you as excited as we were when first time dad-to-be Peter Dinklage walked away with the gold at the Primetime Emmy Awards last night (Sept. 18)? The Game of Thrones star beat out some serious competition, including The Good Wife‘s Alan Cumming and Mad Men‘s John Slattery, and took home the trophy for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series and we think we know why — his baby good luck charm!
Peter and his wife Erica Schmidt are expecting their first child together later this year and the actor was clearly smitten with his pregnant lady and baby-to-be last night.
In his acceptance speech, Peter thanked his wife, saying, “I love you Erica. You’re amazing, I love you.” Too sweet! And of course, their unborn child was lucky to be able to hear daddy accept his first ever Emmy! What a lucky charm!
“There’s some really good actors up there who could just have easily been holding this,” Peter, who didn’t expect to win at all, told Access Hollywood backstage at the awards ceremony. “Definitely not me. Esteem issues.”
